    Because every single OS is integrated with hardware. That is what an operating system is.

    I also don't think you know what this means. Fast in what way? Boot time? Standard operational use? High stress use? Data manipulation?

    thirdly most of the people I know who program or do video editing use a Mac(some even boot Linux off of it). The point is their is no point for you to attack a simple request based solely on your preconceived prejudices against Apple.
    I use a Mac because a. my company provided me with one free of charge, and b. it slightly beats out Windows for me personally because I develop in a Unix environment. If I had my choice, I would be getting a PC and putting Linux on it.

    The reason why developing some things for Apple is difficult is because they have f**ked up policies on what you can develop, and because they have a very bad track record of releasing system libraries (like sound) that aren't backwards compatible and break games. It puts a lot of stress on some games with an older release date, but that must still be supported (like MMOs and MOBA games).

    And Direct X and so known for its backwards compatibility or being an open platform...
