I play FFXIV on my MacBook Pro all the time. Apple provides BootCamp not just an option to use Windows, but to use windows with proper drivers that allows Macs to run Windows better than most non-Apple machines with simular hardware specs.

While I would not mind a native OS X client, the fact is that this would require more time for SE to code the game in OpenGL (currently coded in DirectX and ps3 code) which willbfurther detract resources from them making FFXIV a better game.

If we can survive FFXIV not bombing a second time I could see SE putting toward the resources to make a Mac client, granted we get enough subs in the next year or 2. If there are only 500,000 or less subs by the end of 2013 (I have my doubts about even reaching this number), I'd toss the thought of them putting down the dev cost for a new client. Keep in mind, wow had MILLIONS of players already when they added the Mac Client.

At the end of the day you can play FFXIV on your mac just fine, sadly you just choose not to.

For that to work I need to own Windows and I haven't owned a copy of Windows since XP. Being a Linux user for the last 7 years and recently switching to Mac earlier this year, I'm very focused on native gaming. As I mentioned previously I was working on a port for Final Fantasy XIV a few months ago and it works just fine, however its still not optimized, the configuration settings can't be changed, and direct controller input doesn't work. If you have a Mac with Snow Leopard 10.6.8+ and an Nvidia GPU you can give it a shot yourself. Once A Realm Reborn releases the client should be easier to port, so I'll continue work on it then.

Dont buy a mac and expect to play games on it.
Most companies make games for PC. If you want games, get a PC, dont ask company to spend resources to port the game to mac.

Wow once again someone who completely failed to read my post. I acknowledged Bootcamp and even said I would use it(actually I will probably just run parallels, because booting in and out of OSX and Win7 is just tedious). I don't even expect a OSX client at launch or even within six months. I simply would like it if they did it, so I am showing my support for its eventuality. I really wish people would just read the OP instead of making assumptions.

What a completely silly and nonsensical thing to say. many companies think the Mac is great place to invest games in(Blizzard, ArenaNet, id,). Also what is wrong with making a simple request.

I mean I just don't understand this position ok you like windows and everything but some people like myself love Mac OS X what is the big deal that we might want a native version of a game its not that unheard of a lot of companies are supporting the Mac platform I mean even steam is on Mac now so just because we are the 10 percent of the computer market doesn't mean we shouldn't get what we like as well or even request it. It's like saying no we won't give people vegetarian or vegan or hell even gluten free food options because 90 percent of people don't care....I mean really?

There is a reason few games come out on macs. Re-coding your game for a tiny market is not usually high priority. Face it mac gamers are a niche within a niche.
