    That Mac thread!

Now I did some digging and there does seem to be some discussion about this in a French language thread, so I decided to ask this anyways.

While I understand their is allot going on with the relaunch on both the PC and the launch on the PS3, but it is my hope that once the dust settles that you could look into developing a native Mac client. Now I know there are those who will say "just get a 'real PC'" or "use parallels or Boot-Camp", but to be honest i just don't want to. I can play WoW on Mac(in fact almost all Blizzard games have a Mac client), I can even play GW2 on Mac, as well as a host of games on Steam. I understand the Mac may not be that popular in Japan, but hear in the US it an ever expanding market. So, I don't expect this soon, but just simply hope we can have it in the future.

    Addendum
I can be and may have been a bit snarky throughout this thread, but I was just annoyed at people telling me to do things I already acknowledged could be done. My point was not to point out workarounds, but to instead stress the fact that there are some people who would love a Mac native client. I am not asking for a day one Mac client release; I don't even expect one six months after the relaunch. I would however like to see at least a beta client a year from now. I do not believe it would steal to many resources considering GW2 is doing it and ArenaNet is not as big as SE, and before someone claims there is no market for it I go back to the fact that Blizzard and ArenaNet thinks otherwise. My biggest disappointment is that it is so hard to have a conversation about gaming on a Mac without it turning into a flame war.

    Addendum-2
I don't know how to stress this any further; this post is not about workarounds! it is about showing support for the possibility of eventually getting a native Mac client. So please stop telling me to use workarounds; they are not the point. Not to mention making your game on available on aMac can boost your sales.

    Addendum-3
This was not meant to be a flame thread, but Windows fanboys can not handle the idea of someone not only using a Mac but actually wanting to game on it as well. I hardly ever see Mac users going into PC related threads just to tell people to go get a Mac, but Windows user constantly invade Mac threads off all kinds just to demonstrate they are bigger Dicks. Thank you and have a nice day.

I wouldn't mind seeing this game come out on Mac. I'm a PC man myself and despise using a Mac but odds are it's not going to happen anytime soon. Giving that programming for the PS3 is a headache in its own right, going through the Mac programming roller-coaster wouldn't be much fun. Plus, making a game for Mac only benefits, Mac users. When you code for PC you're coding for anything that runs windows, which is many, many more people. Especially, gamers.

They are actually very popular in Japan.

Why not? It works perfectly fine if you use Bootcamp. Unfortunately (but realistically) "i just don't want to" is probably not going to motivate them to develop a native Mac version.

Well to be running something natively takes up less system resources and just runs smoother nine times out of ten.

But if you are running Windows through Bootcamp then you are actually running Windows, not Windows on top of OSX. So if you boot into your Windows partition then you are able to play FFXIV natively on a Mac.

I do this sometimes on a MBP and it works fine.
