FFXI's UI was archaic, but it was solid and functional.
I even left the sound on because I liked it's "click"
I loathe FFXIV's UI. It's archaic, and barely functional.
It is very, very unlikely that you'll ever see multiple windows. This game is designed with controller accessibility in mind first and foremost. I would like to see a softer shade of blue for the backgrounds, however.multiple windows is definitely a must and so are tabs IMO. But i'd want more then just background colors. We need texturized backgrounds, some design on the edges, contrasting tones... better designed buttons. They need to change the layout too....
U know... just make it more attractive. Isn't making things look pretty SE's specialty?
Having played WoW for many years, one of the things I despised most about the game was the addons. You were basically required to have X addons if you wanted to do anything endgame. Having to update a half-dozen or more addons every single patch was quite annoying.I don't think UI mods really give a big advantage.... in WOW for example i can play just as well with the standard UI or with all my mods on. That being said, they don't need to gives us MODs, they could just change the current UI for something better, because i find it very poorly designed.
PS3 having a HDD.... wouldn't it be possible to use Mods?
On the positive side, see above. Addsons have as much likelihood of happening as multiple windows, for exactly the same reason (I would be very, very surprised if they made the PS3 version addon-capable).
Agreed on all points. If anything it's not minimalistic enough for me. FFXI's UI was perfection in my eyes, small and out of my face! I like to see the scenery what can I say?
As for UI mods, not really a fan of that I'd rather we push SE to add things that we need. Problem with mods is they can give an advantage and if their creators stop supporting the game you lose a mod you've come to depend on.![]()
I am in favor of current FFXIV interface.
I am strongly against robutts.
I know I'm in the minority that would actually like the ability to go back to a FF3/FF7 looking interface. But Thats what I'd like. Especially if its made to work awesomely with a game controller.
I have to thank Square-Enix for the amazing job they have done recreating Final Fantasy XIV from Scratch. Especially the inclusion of Missing Genders which we petitioned for in good faith. This was proof to us players that the Developers are truly Sympathetic to our requests and that being honest and vocal can pay off with the amazing characters we have who are Female Roegadyn, Male Miqote, and Female Highlanders. Thank You SE, Thank You Community Team, Thank You Yoshi-P.
i am not saying i want addons and stuff, alli want is ability to design my own 'visual'side of interface, windows colo, buttosn, shape etc, no additional functionality .
Yea that pretty much what I would like. I don't need anything extra added but being able to add design or change of color would be great.
The current UI color isn't something I prefer.

After the recent UI work in FFXIII and FFXII, the FFXIV UI really is a step backwards. Yoshida did bring Hiroshi Minagawa in to work on the Interface, so hopefully that entails some major changes.
Aren't the elements of the UI serverside? I dont know if that means anything though as I'm not a programmer. Someone correct me if I'm wrong~
UI , the user interface ia clientside, some graphical elements+simple code to display them, and it wouldnt be a proble to change iot, however a design process for changes is problem.
for me biggest problem is i cantr exopand skill bar, or make it to display two rows at same time. kind of annoying
well in ffxi you could change the UI scheme. I liked doing the dark blue one. Maybe they will add a scheme changer with 8 options. Or something similar to past ff games where u had 4 tabs and you could change the colors.
