if all you're doing in that battle as a WHM is healing, you're doing it wrong.

Phase 1: Cleric Stance + nuke and MP management
King appears: Switch off Cleric Stance, re-buff and re-heal
Phase 2: Heal, buff (usually one WHM takes tank, the other handles party, but both are expected to assist each other in a pinch)
King is alone: one WHM keeps buffing/healing the tank, the other re-uses Cleric Stance and nukes the king ASAP. the faster it goes down, the less you'll have to deal with keeping people alive.

why would you do the gla first?? then have you mages running around like there crazy running into pomflare. every other party i ever been in and thats pick up & ls partys you kill the blm first after that its a cake walk, and usually end the fight with with one of the 3 being king, mrd, gla.

everyone wipes and since im not in there circle of buddys im the only one getting bitched out yet the blm's got nuked and died in the kings aoe and the blm's aoe, im standing in the middle of the area like normal other whm didnt help at all cuz it was running around also. first time i seen a loss in a moogle fight in a stack of keystone.

am i wrong because they do some weird combo of play in that fight?
Why would you kill the gladiator first you ask? Why would you not just got with 6 white mages and use cleric stance, presence of mind with holy killing all the moogles at once is the better question.

The reason why the group was fail is because you play on Sargatanas. :P

Don't play with pick up groups. They are generally abominations.

GLD is pretty easily bound with Blizzara, plus you can time it well enough to hit other moogles. Couple that with killing him third or fourth, and he really shouldn't be a problem.

Here's the thing, and keep in mind that I very much agree with you: this is a horrible. I usually avoid pickups and unknowns because, well, they suck buttocks. But we really can't do this for much longer. It worked for us because the whole game consisted of veterans. But when we do this it closes off the server. How can newer players or returning players get "in" when we're cockblocking them from our groups? Sure, maybe they can get experience (and fail repeatedly) and by sheer chance bump into a shell or group through randomness and maybe get "in" but that isn't likely. What is likely is that these cockblocked players get pissed, quit, and we're back to what we have now.

LOL @ you for being so poor a white mage you can't handle anything else. I can. Others can. I even got a whole party back on its feet after tank died and we won. It's all possible if you put your heart into it and give it your best.

To be completely honest here. In Final Fantasy XI I did a majority of the storyline/content with pick up groups. I had a lot of fun with it and I have NEVER had as bad of an experience there as I do here with them. I'm not sure if it's the quality of the average player here is lower or not but it's really frustrating.

I've partied with level 50 white mages in pick ups that don't even understand what raise or cleric stance is. Some of these people refuse to learn, so generally I avoid them as much as possible. Not saying everyone is like that, as i'm sure some fairly skilled people exist but I seriously hope in 2.0 the experience will be better.

Ha! You know, I've been pondering the reason for this for about 18 months now. I have some good hypothesis about it but there has been a monumental shift in how people approach games. I've settled mostly on the idea that the MMO back in the days of XI meant an experience shared with others whereas today it means an experience against others.

Leonard Sax has some very good pieces about how our society in America has devalued historically consistent forms of competition. Because these institutions (spelling bees, sports, etc.) have been, for lack of a better word, "nerfed", children have sought out an alternate method for competition. The key is that these children of the "everyone gets a trophy" generation are now the largest number of gamers out there. There are a lot of sub-arguments in this but I'm not so sure that we'll see a change to the culture for a long time.

To be blunt, MMOs may have become an existential experience.
