Does anyone else always carry gear (tools, weapons, armor, food) for all classes?

My concern initially is, until we can have gear sets for all classes, how will we manage to carry gear for all classes?

Do we we just craft naked and eliminate that set of gear? Right now I have minimum 6-7 slots per DoM, DoW class without counting jewelry and offhand (shields) slots. Then we go into crafting and 2 tools per class and 1 gear set. and Gathering 2 tools and 1 gear set. Along with food for multiple classes and situational gear I have nearly 100 slots taken up right now. Not even taking into account all the materials used while crafting and drops while gathering.

Seriously 100 slots is going to mean that I spend more time going and getting stuff from retainer if I want to craft or have just finished gathering. No more crafting in the field while I wait for the group to get ready.

I am really hoping SE planned for those of us that are OCD about switching classes at a moment's notice.

i carry all my 7 fighting classes, gather classes equip. for crafting i have 2 tools at a time.

guess well have to manage with 100 slots, i remember on launch we only had 80 lol. i think if we make gear sets the equipment is taken out the inventory so that can save some space.

    Tools, weapons and armor: Yes
    Food: No

I don't ever eat food, because I'm pro like that.

They've mentioned that equipped gear will no longer take inventory space. This includes gear put into sets you're not using right now. The downfall of that is you'll need multiple pieces of the same gear if you want to include it in several sets. Which, makes me curious... On gear that's U/U how will that work?

Example: I have a Gridanian Officer's Overcoat. I have this item equipped on my Monk. Now say I want to use that same piece of gear on my Bard too. Naturally I'd need to get a second copy of the-But wait! It's listed as U/U meaning I can only have one copy at a time. This means I'll have to switch to my Monk setup, remove the Gridanian Officer's Overcoat from my gear setup, and then switch to Bard, and manually equip it, right?

Unless I'm missing something isn't this just going to make more pointless steps than what's needed? Macros are supposed to be incorporated into the game before launch but you'll still require multiple parts and items. From my understanding they want it this way, you may not be able to register a single piece of gear to multiple gear sets. Sorry, I know it's a bit off-topic, but it seemed relevant to the question at hand. I actually carry multiple sets of weapons and tools on me all the time but try to condense it in a way that I can use the same piece of gear across several jobs at once to conserve space.

Such as I have a pair of Felt Kecks I use for Bard, and when I'm playing it, Archer. Additionally this same piece can be used for Monk or Pugilist since I melded it using a INT/PIE setup. I also have a Coliseum Subligar with STR/DEX that I'll switch out on Bard, and use on Monk when I need the extra STR. I typically carry 1-2 different kinds of food on me for each job, and 1 universal food for when I'm crafting. I'll still do the same in ARR though the whole gear setup could be a little tricky...

actually they said this is up for vote, which is good because I hate it.
I wouldn't get a pair of 50 str triple melded felt bracers for every DOW I have. Would cost a lot.

So lets hope yoshi drops the idea.

Yoshi P said that you would have to manually equip the item you want to use across different Gear Sets, or create a macro to do it for you. But he added that they would be seeking feedback on this.

I hope they change it because I also use U/U gear for different jobs, so the Gear Set system as it stands now is going to be rather frustrating to use.

    To the OP,

I craft and gather also, so I always need to free up space and struggle to stay at about 190 items between weapons, tools, armor, different clothing sets for different jobs, food, jewelry for different tasks, dark matter, the constant influx of rubbish items from gathering, etc. etc.

I'm hoping the reduction back to 100 items isn't as troublesome as I think it might be. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that they get it right.

Yes, you missed something. You only can have one U/U copy at a time in your inventory. Put the first Gridanian Officer's Overcoat in your Monk gear set and you can get a second.

I don't say it's the best, only how it can work.

I really hope so too... Either allow you to link a single piece of gear across several sets or do away with it completely. Instead, set it up so equipped gear is removed from your inventory. Keep it similar with FFXI how when switching jobs it remembers what equipment you had on and auto-equips that gear.

Make gear sets, problem solved. The only exceptions will be gear you use for multiple classes until you have copies of that gear, or they allow us to give gear aliases allowing a single piece to be used in multiple gear sets.

That assumes enough gear sets for all classes/jobs. Last I saw was 2-3 gear sets. Wish we knew more.
