Thread: Yoshida-san - Will we be able to purchse Additional Retainers for 2.0?

Today's update on "Changes to Existing Items and Monetary System..." answers a lot of our questions. Thanks!

However, with the loss of about 75 Inventory Slots (Player Inventories from 200 -> 100, but gaining 25 more slots on our Retainer) - or possibly less - there are some follow-up concerns and questions that would be great to get clarified:

• Will *all* Jobs/Classes have their own "Gear Set" that removes the current equipped gear from counting towards their Inventory Limit? So, will we have a Gear Set for Botanist (and all equipment for that removed from inventory), a Gear Set for Warrior, White Mage, etc.? For all Crafting, Gathering and War / Magic Classes? I thought in the Live Letter III Video that there was mention of only... 3? Sets?

• Will we still have 2 Retainers (Free) per Character in 2.0?

• Will we able to purchase Additional Retainers for a (hopefully) small fee in 2.0?

Or if the answer is "No" to all of the above, I'd just ask for some consideration when doing Recipe Adjustments for 2.0, to reduce the number of materials in various synths (most notably Culinarian), where you have lots of materials needed (e.g.,

This is besides those of us that help Craft and Gather for friends and LS, where we carry materials for multiple Crafts (Carpenter, Leatherworker, Clothcraft, Alchemist (Potions, etc.)), etc.

I realize those that are light on their feet will just say "Anyone with a storage problem is just pack-ratting" (and while that's partially true for some), for others it's carrying a variety of HQ (and NQ) Mats to help others down the line, Alternate Builds for Jobs, or various Materia for attempting Double and Triple Melds, storing all 9 types of Beast Coins for future Relics, etc.

Since we got some initial info on Item / Inventory changes today, it'd be nice to get some clarification so we can fully understand how drastic a reduction we are going to be faced with, and also a better understanding if we gain additional methods to offset that (like purchasing additional Retainers), etc.

It would be damn about time if we are able to. Been waiting for ages for the ability to have more retainers.

Now the new servers can handle more retainers and players, I sure hope they open this up.

Yoshida doesn't answer questions on the forums, and neither do the community reps for the most part.

I really hope that they allow us more than 3 sets of gear. I would honestly like one for each class as I have leveled (and carry) gear sets for almost all the crafting/gathering professions in addition to WHM which I use for questing. Given how cumbersome swapping gear between retainer and your character is, I really hope they consider allowing us to hold all this gear on our persons since I do not want to have to sort through my retainer's inventory list cherry picking out the gear I need to swap back into Leatherworker. Then after I craft whatever item, drop it all back on my retainer, or have to deal with being extremely gimp on carrying capacity.

He never mentioned that we would only have 3 gearsets. He had 3 gearsets made up on a Lvl 10 character, maybe he had more that he didn't make up, maybe not. It's been stated many times that you will be able to get more gearsets by doing quests, probably requiring a higher lvl than 10 to get. So we will most likely have more (a lot more) than 3. Since they made no mention of what would happen to items that were on your retainers, I'd say it's safe to assume we will have at least 2 by default in ARR. As for the last point, I'm curious about that as well.

i wont need retainers ill just make more characters and use the 2 i get for free on each lol.

More retainers would be nice, but it's also not really necessary. if you actually manage to fill up both retainer's inventories (I have tons of space left personally), anyone with a legacy account has 8 character slots per server, so you can just create mules. Yes, there will be a delivery system.

Yeah think mine is full from 2010 junk so stuff I don't really need anymore, otherwise only hoarders fill up retainers lol.
