Changes to Existing Items, the Monetary System, and Achievements Updates! (10/2/12)

Changes to Existing Items and the Monetary System in FINAL FANTASY XIV: A Realm Reborn (10/02/2012)

Most of the stuff we knew, but this caught my eye.
    Items to Become Unobtainable
The following items will become unobtainable:
    • Dated items
    • Weathered gear
    • * Weathered weapons and tools will remain obtainable.
    • Items obtained through seasonal events
    • Rewards for achievements that will become unattainable in FFXIV: ARR, such as the Dalamud horn
    • Items obtained through events associated with the coming of the Seventh Umbral Era, such as over-aspected clusters
Hmm... does Darnus (Hard Mode) count as an event with the coming of the Umbral Era? It is technically not canon.

Discontinued Achievements in FINAL FANTASY XIV: A Realm Reborn (10/02/2012)

Only the spearfishing achievements were added. Just got Getting Giggy With It IV: La Noscea. Pretty quick if you have the patience.

Yes, it does include this. It had always been common knowledge that Nevermore Nael Hard Mode will only be in 1.x and it is optional content to satisfy players who wanted a challenge outside of Relic Reborn.

I'm happy to finally see a list of discontinued content and was very surprised to see that we won't have a player bazaar and players will not be able to keep extra stocks of gil and crystals on our retainers. It was kinda nice to see gil cap won't change after all.

    Changes to the Monetary System
Upon the release of FFXIV: ARR, we will be removing one zero from all gil prices, in a process known as Currency Redenomination.

    1. All NPC vendor buying/selling prices will be reduced to 1/10 of current values.
    2. All quest rewards, monster drops, and in-game monetary rewards will be reduced to 1/10 of current values.
    3. All repair costs, airship fares, and other in-game service fees will be reduced to 1/10 of current values.
    4. Because of changes to game systems, the prices of existing items will change to varying degrees.
    5. The maximum amount of gil that a player can possess will not change from 999,999,999.
    6. The amount of gil required to obtain certain achievements will be reduced to 1/10 of current values.
    7. All gil currently held by players will be reduced to 1/10 of current values.

Example: A player carrying 100,000 gil will only possess 10,000 gil upon release of FFXIV: ARR. However, a chocobo rental fee of 800 gil will be reduced to 80 gil, and an NPC previously selling an item for 1,500 gil will sell the same item for 150 gil. The effective purchasing power of your savings will not change.

Due to rebalancing, the price of some items, rewards and services may not be reduced to exactly 1/10 of their current values. The above should only be considered general guidelines for the changes.
im kinda of confused on 5&7.

Oh, I guess they aren't changing the gil cap then. But the value is being converted to 1/10th, like the rest of the economy.

#5: They were at one point saying the max gil cap would be reduced, now they're saying it won't be.
#7: Knock one decimal place off your gil total. ie: 2,000,000 => 200,000

They are literally taking away 90% of your gil. So if you had 1,000,000g in 1.0, in 2.0 you will only have 100,000g.

So those who are at max gil can actually max their gil again.

All gil will be taken down to 1/10 of its current value. However - the maximum itself is not changing.
