I would like them to take as little as possible from <insert game here> and come up with their own ideas. Feel free to play <insert game here> if you like what <insert game here> did better.

Yes, because taking good ideas and expanding on them would be such a waste of time; I forgot how trying to do everything differently worked so well with them the first time.
All snark aside this type of thinking will get you no where. The fact is everything they tried to do uniquely in the game originally was an utter disaster: Linkshells, Market Wards, UI, Questing.... All the damn things they are completely overhauling for Pete's sake. I understand the desire to be different, but there is absolutely nothing wrong with looking at how certain things are implemented in other games and seeing if it will fit yours.

My guess is to keep players from staying logged in for 24 hours a day trying to sell stuff off of their character and reduce server traffic and reduce lag. Not a terrible idea, a minor inconvenience though.
I think since I started FFXIV, that was two years ago day one at launch I have literally only bought one item from a persons bazaar. It just isn't the same as it was in FFXI, and really a unnecessary feature. It isn't going to hurt the game not having it.
Correction: Is still one of the best games.

Same reason they delete everything else OP, ineptitude.
