Hmm. So, with the removal of colors, I'm concerned on how macros and such will differentiate two of the same item with different materia. I know we're supposed to get the gear sets and such, but as SE has stated macros will still be necessary in some circumstances. For instance: currently I have have Felt bracers (blue) with ATT and Felt Bracers with DEX. They're colored different so I can macro the equip based on which one I want. I imagine with no color labels in the names there will be no way to differentiate between the two, so I'll end up having to manually equip them.

Its not game breaking...but its annoying. I'm not entirely sure why the need to remove the colors from the item names.

Edit: Didn't see the post before mine on this topic until after I posted. But to answer the gearset thing, I'll only have one gear set for a job. What if I have STR, DEX and ATT felt bracers? I need the STR bracers for 2 jobs, and the DEX/ATT bracers situationally, so I'm going to have at least two sets of felt bracers in my inventory because I can't put the STR bracers in the gearset, they'll have to be macro'd. So does that mean my MNK/DRG is going to end up with DEX bracers randomly because the macro can't tell the difference?

    This caught my eye.

Recommended Class to Become Required Class

Recommended class will be changed to required class on existing gear.
The majority of gear affected by this change are dated items, which many players continue to wear for aesthetic reasons, despite incurring performance penalties.

In order to preserve this freedom of choice, we are planning to make these items wearable by more, if not all, classes. However, we are still in the process of determining how to best implement these changes.

Recommended level restrictions will still be present in FFXIV: ARR.
I'm counting on dated gear to be wearable in ARR by all classes/jobs that can currently wear it -- but without the "recommended" class limitation, does that mean all classes get the full gear bonuses???

Depending how they go on this, Dated gear will either be awesome novelty items, or not even worth inventory space.

It is sad that waist items will not be visible.

Also when SE says: "The effective purchasing power of your savings will not change." that assumes people will automatically price all market ward items at 1/10 their previous price. That will not happen for a long time - if ever.
It WILL happen. Supply and demand will gravitate all item prices to where they should be based on the avialability of the item and people's desire to buy it. It's simple economics and redenomination does not change the rules of economics. People who try to be assholes will not sell items and will have to lower their prices until stuff starts selling.

that was my question as well. say i use the same rings for multiple classes. if they are not part of the gearset for that job my understanding is they needed to be put into your regular inventory and manually added. i use the same gear for multiple classes in alot of occasions. my understanding is if you put a piece of gear on a gearset then it becomes unavailable to be manually put onto another job. i could be wrong, but it's what i understood when he was talking about multiple jobs using the same piece of rare/ex having to manually equip it to jobs.

Honestly, as far as the gil reduction goes..I could care less about it.....if they reduced the gil cap too. Retaining the 999,999,999g cap to me is a bit...redundant to say the least.

Still curious about a few other changes and how they will affect certain classes...but at the same time they are supposed to be rebuilding the battle system, tp system, and flow/pace meaning it can't really be Q.Q'd over much until people actually get their hands on the game.

I like that inventory will work differently in conjunction with sets functionality (something I wish XI had gotten) but at the same time means we'll need to have storage options available too since overall capacity is getting reduced in the same breath. This also depends on how well the set functionality works and if, as the live III vid hinted at, they eventually introduce the ability to call a single piece of gear into multiple sets from other sets rather than leaving certain pieces out that you use in multiple sets and just having a macro swap it in or manually equip after set change.

5&7 kinda conflict losing 1/10th gil you worked for. but you can still get 999,999,999 max

items at 100k will stay at 100k is what SE dont understand we can still sell for 99,999,999. now people will be greedier to get back the money there losing. hope this aint the start of FFXI money issues in FFXIV.

Is there anywhere that states what a gear set would be tied to? Like is the gear set tied to a weapon change? I know that the drop down on the UI is there but unable to read Japanese. But if it is not tied to a weapon change, then should we start looking at the gear sets from an stat set instead of a job set? Example...
MNK and WAR both use STR as 1 of their 2 stats.
You could set up a gear set for STR by mapping what items you have that gives you such.
Then create another gear set that would fill in the remaining slots with int/vit gear.

This 5 minute thought process probably has holes in it but it could be used so that str gloves, pants, rings x2 are removed from inventory and able to be applied to multiple jobs.

Their intent is to lower the amount of gil going around and lower the prices of transactions but how long will it be before we see things going for 30 mil again at this point?

My guess is as long as it takes the gil floating around between the players to reach the point that it's at now. That could take a while.

I for one, do not care for the changes to waist gear.

One of the best features of the current game was how virtually everything you equip can be seen (barring certain items e.g. you can't see rings when wearing gloves that cover your whole hands) and it makes for interesting aesthetics. It's not a major issue or a deal-breaker, but it is somewhat disheartening.
