I would loooove this, but sadly I would want the MMO to be built around this style, so I would have to say no, just because this is game is, die/respond/die/finally kill the thing.

Sword art online would be a good example of an MMO built around this idea, and I would loooove it sooooooooo much omgs.

I dont understand why people are against this.
Its not like those that dont want to play like that, have to do it.

I think it would be a great option. A server with permament death. I know FFXIV isnt built around this idea, but it doesnt have to!

I would do it and i would love it. Even if i die every two months.
I would not be scared of content, new or old. Its not for everyone, nothing is.

Might be interesting to have 1 such server.
The instances can be adjusted to accommodate the perma-death by relaxing timers, give players more hp, higher defense...etc
Instances can also provide a "flee" option to leave in case of griefers, disconnects...etc

Why don't you just do a 'nuzlocke' on just yourself. Whenever YOU die, go reroll. See how much FUN it will be.

"Fun" is subjective. Perma-death servers will work well if there is some sort of player rankings where others can go oooh and aaah at the top few.

FUN would work if we didnt have bosses that can combo you to death with an unlucky rotation.
Seen it so many times where that happens to people

Dont you think FFXIV Team has enough stuff to worry about? Do you think its easy to re-create an entire game from 0 and release it in 2 years? You think SE has that big of a team to get 2 groups into 2 diferent kind of stuff to actually balance the normal game and this idea? Final Fantasy XIV wasnt designed to such thing as what you guys are trying to ask for, so it whould be needed to rebuild almsot everything and its dificult because of this, and that whould actually require time that could be probably spent in adding new features, storyline, quests, NM's, Instances, Dungeons, etc, dont u think? I rather have a frequently updated game with alot of content to do than to have 2 diferent kinds of servers that i totally whouldnt play on the perma death one and delay the over-all work that can be done without this being implemented.

Its obvious we want this as what it was designed for, as most people already comment, go into a totally new fight, die, make a strategy, die again, make the final details and check for the bosses weaknesses, go in, kill it, win. We want this as it was supposed to be and rather have alot of content to do than have Final Fantasy XIV's team split into 2 and do half the updates and work they whould do with just the servers that have the content the game was designed for.

You can hate me all you want, but i kinda hate it and i'm pretty sure that this are MOST of the players thoughs about this kind of idea.

Being that FFXIV wasn't designed for permadeath, this server would basically be a server only for some alternate characters. People would have their main character on a regular server, and just just mess around on the permadeath server from time to time, play for thrills and the emotional roller coaster ride, and for bragging rights for some players who survive long enough.

There may be a few tight knit cliques because it would be the only way to survive for long. But overall the "community" would probably be non-existent as no one would want to take a chance on playing with or helping strangers for fear of that stranger messing up and wiping out your work permanently.

If SE implemented this, they should require users of this server to help make sure it's financially viable for the server upkeep and any development required to make it work. Perhaps an additional $500 ~ $1000 per month for use of the permadeath server depending on number of users?
