    Considering Rukkirii said nothing about the level cap, I'm thinking it might be more along the lines of zone vendors in TOR than WoW's ladder progression into raiding.

    Gearing up in WoW wasn't exactly easy in vanilla. Not when you were capped at lv60, required lots of materials for crafted gear to get started and needed lucky drops or really long questlines to get some of the starter gear. Then you were at the mercy of the RNG gods. And unlike here, where you can spam content, you were held in check by raid lockouts so if you killed the boss you had to wait a week to fight them again.

    If Yoshi brings in "gear score" or anything similar, I will probably hang in my head in shame.
    Average i-Level is a necessary evil if you want to use it as a gating mechanism for content finder. That's how it is currently used in WoW: a gating mechanism for heroic dungeons and raid finder. If SE decides to implement vehicle fights, then average i-Level can also be used to determine a vehicle's stats.

    * The sad thing is that FFXIV turned RDM into a turret, and people think that's what it's supposed to be. It's supposed to combine sword and magic into something more, not spend the bulk of gameplay spamming spells and jump into melee for only 3 GCDs before scurrying back to the back line like good little casters.

    I just hope some content will be relevant more than 3 months at a time. I didn't play FFXI endgame much, but it sounds frustrating to have had LV75 gear for 5 years then everything made obsolete in a short period of time within the level cap being raised.
    Nah not frustrating at all ..it was awesome and ppl seem to forget very fast that this massive change in FF11 came from Yoshi-P he likes armor with big flashy stats and i'm all for it forget about Tanaka's bland +1DEX chainmails good for nothing stuff those were sweet tears from elitist QQers everyone enjoyed abyssea saying otherwise is lying to yourself and being mainstream

    be easier to just give everyone there 5 instance points 100% then buy your equip from a NPC like the weapon would cost 100 points. thats simple.

    sure hope its not insanely complex like getting a relic.

    Without a level cap increase XI would have died.

    Without new superior gear to collect, the content would have been dead. They should have upped the level cap sooner though.

    You still got use out of things like AF and relic though, solely for abilities, and they made PUP, BLU, COR, DNC and SCH AF/relic gear good in general.

    Yeah that's ultimately my point. Things shouldn't have stayed at 75 for so long. They made three expansions span over one level cap. I don't want to see gear cycle as fast as in WoW, but I also want to see something vastly superior to anything else and not merely something to sub in for an ability before five years passes either. It's really a delicate balance to maintain.

    I was so excited a while back about changes but I'm getting more and more depressed lately with this like WoW garbage. Starting to look like the somewhat unique style is getting tossed for a generic dumbed down cookie cutter game.

    RNG is not unique, or style (neither is a token system). Perhaps you are referring to other systems and just putting your post here.

    But changing loot distribution systems has little to do with being unique, it has to do with being fun and fair (this doesnt mean easy - huge misconception people have). Both are used in WoW and FFXIV currently. Though in my opinion the RNG is the worst convinced solution for most problems.
