    "Revamped" Rewards System

    So I finally took some time to watch the English translated version of the live letter from the producer, and I noticed something that I seemed to over look before. After the little skit where Wada pretended that he actually played the game and couldn't get into av/cc because of server congestion once, he asked how they planed on fixing this issue in ARR. Yoshida went on to explain several potential solutions to the problem, and one of the he suggested was a new "revamped" rewards system.


    "With the revamped rewards system, players won't be spamming the same content over and over."

    I wonder what this exactly means for us. How is loot going to be distributed now? I'm imagining something like a points based system where you do the dungeon, get points for completing it, and then buy your gear. If this is the case, they will need to find some other way to motivate people to do all the dungeons, otherwise people will just spam the least difficult one.

    In any case, I'm interested in hearing more about this.

    Until I hear details, I'm not getting my hopes up. It could mean that they plan to increase wait times, or that there will be much more content to the point that spamming one event becomes impractical. It could be point based or it could be party loot pools, or higher drop rates, or really any number of things.

    Sounds like to me that rewards will be easier to obtain, and there won't be a sense of spamming the same content 1198087309740893070 times to get everyone their Weapon(s).

    Yes but I worry about the wording here, "will not need to" and "will not be" can mean two very different things when it comes to SE.

    Maybe they plan to 'Wowitize' content so you are guarateed at least one of the rarest drops, whether 'Blue' or 'Green', every run, so that will be one Darklight every dungeon run that drops darklight, or whatever blue gear it drops. Maybe 2. . .

    Maybe Yoshi-P is blowing smoke and drop rates will still be at abismal levels and people will still spam everything :/

    This would actually be amazing.

    What WoW did with Heroic Dungeons would work in this game.

    1. Boss have their own loot pool (good stuff that got you ready for the earlier raids in the game) and drop 2 items each run (some items are rarer than others).
    2. Each boss in the instance dropped 1 token per kill for each member in the group. Automatically distributed to PT members.
    3. Tokens were used to buy gear that was slightly higher level than the gear dropped in those dungeons.
    4. Heroic Dungeons had a 24hr lockout that triggered at 12AM PST. Meaning if you completed the instance at 11PM PST you could go back in at 12AM PST but after that run you must wait for the next reset. Think levequests.

    With this system, everyone in the group made progress. Not just one lucky person.

    I really dislike the 15 minute lockout for dungeons that we currently have. The timer is short enough that people wait it out and not long enough to do much of anything else during the wait except stand around or craft. I personally have very limited playtime these days so when I'm online I want to be doing something, anything. I would not mind if the lockout on those dungeons was anywhere between 1 and 24 hours and guaranteed loot as opposed to the current.

    Also, LOL @ people above saying XI always had something to do... Yeah I remember that... Always waiting on people to gather so that we can stand around and not do anything for 3 hours. Yep that was super productive. <--- sarcasm for the obtuse

    Well, if there's alot of Weapons/ Armor to obtain, and alot of content to go through, low drop rates may not even be required. ( except end-game gear, which should be near hard to obtain)

    Tho if they dont increase the drop rates on that 'end-game' gear, content that anyone cares about (hamlet, primals, and the 3 dungeons) is still going to be totally spammable content. I'm sure those on their 200'th AV run or whatnot without a single piece of darklight to show for it would like some increased drop rates. That has already been brought up as well.

    I'm for points, points are great and fair but if they're making it so at least 1 piece drops every win I won't complain but hey should make the dungeon a challenge or takes time like 1 hour to complete with 1 hour lock out. I guess then people will rotate dungeons instead of spamming a 25minute dungeon run 12 times a day.
