Prior to the launch of Diablo 3 there was a big deal made about things coming "soon". The release date will be revealed "soon! 3 months later we get the release date. Updates for a flood of info regarding ARR will be coming "soon"!

This is supposed to be a light hearted post about what people define as "soon" and how the use of the word seems to be more to placate people thirsting to know exactly what they are doing.

I'm quite happy to get info as it comes, i dont want to put extra pressure on people developing a game because i know they have much better things to do than to deal with a thousand back-seat "developers" nagging "are we there/is it done yet?!?" I would much rather they take their time (not too long i hope) and get it right this time.

It took the Blizzard team roughly 10 years to develop D3, an MMO would take much more time. Sure they have a basic template for most of FFXIV but they are almost rebuilding the entire thing from the client to the server structure to the source coding and beyond. for them to have gotten almost into alpha phase in almost 2 years is very soon, in perspective.

While we are all excited and eager to play the final project they are moving at an incredible pace. also judging from the (at times) less than kind forum user-base i can understand why they are hesitant to release any info, it seems no matter what it is there are those people who not only disagree but do so vehemently. This only sours the pot for the rest of us.

Anyway, even if the game is not released until next summer it will still have come out quite "soon" we just need to be a little patient in the mean time.

Troll: Patience? ya ya, how long will that take?

Troll feeder: Soon...
