    Gear Sets

I know there is going to be gear set tabs we can use to change out our gear in ARR, what will this mean for inventory? I don't think the set we are wearing will take up inventory space but what I'm curious about is once we build a set, will we need to have the gear taking up space in our inventory if we want to swap out?

If that's the case then I would naturally assume that if we do not have a piece in our inventory then it just wont be equipped, will that change the saved gear tab?

Also, what kind of storage capacity are we looking at? Again I'm assuming, but with the housing system we will most likely be able to upgrade the amount of storage. I know some people have every job at 50 and I worry that to have gear for all of their classes will and up leaving them little space for other items.

EDIT: just got to the part where Yoshi explains that once they are built it will free up room in your inventory. i think that answers my question.

Speaking of which, I can safely say having to obtain multiple copies of the same item for each gear set isn't going to go over well with players as mentioned in the latest letter. Not to mention this doesn't even seem to address sharing unique items across gear sets.

It seems like the easiest way to handle this problem is by right clicking a gear slot in a gear set, it displays the other gear sets you already have. Then you can choose an item already on another gear set and 'link' it to the new gear set slot. Then you can simply indicate that it's a linked item rather than a physical item by a different color boarder or something.

To handle the case where you change the 'master item' in a gear set that has established links, just have the old item automatically replace one of the links to be the master then remap any other links to the item to the new master. Throw up a message when an item is automatically reassigned to another gear set and I don't really see how this is going to confuse anyone.

A set removes the item from your inventory, which is why we'll need to have duplicates of an item if you want it in more than one set.

They're going to need to make it so you can set it so certain pieces of gear can cross sets. I don't understand how they could expect players to get multiple sets of Darklight for the sets. Obviously one could just use macros, but that makes the entire gear set system pointless.

isn't the whole point of gear set to get the gear out of the inventory?
Make a DL gear set, equip with macro first the set than the weapon and you have still more inventory space than without the gear set.
Ok, it is not the best, but better than now.

Just set up the Darklight in a set, then manually equip your weapon. Crisis averted.

ya, from what they said in the live letter, you change your job, then equip a set. so as long as the items arent restricted i would assume you could create a set of accessories you can use for your mages then a different set for the class specific armor.

It's 2012, I don't see how you can defend getting multiple copies of an item. I agree w/ Zezlar, it's pointless. Also dragging items to equip, is way inferior to Right-click equipping. How would a PS3/Control user drag to click anyway? Needs reworking.

iirc Aren't the sets bound by job? If so that makes things more annoying then it needs to be. They should just cross set the items. No need to utilize macros/sets to do the same thing.

They already stated that the PS3 / Controller UI will be completely different. You should also note in one of the game play videos - a piece of gear is equipped via click & drag, but then immediately after, they simply click an item and it equips also.
