Ok so it is now just barely over a month before the game stops saving data and we all wait anxiously for A Realm Reborn to come crawling out of the marshes. It's time to share the little tricks you use in the game that you know many other players do not take advantage of.
I will start off.
Hamlet
Did you know that If you are the first person to turn in a single item of a certain type to Hamlet in any given gathering phase you immediately get 100 anima? The item does not even need to be HQ, any old item will do.
Did you know that if you are top 1-3 provisioner and you have already turned in your seals to Rowena and obtained the A Realm Reborn quest you will instead get 10 top tier Beastmen currency in place of the seal? The same observed drop rate for each of the tiers of top provisioning still applies (3 = 25%, 2= 50%, 1=100%). I discovered this first as a #1 provisioner.
Battle and Dungeons
The Aurum Vale
Did you know that the lilies in the 2nd room of The Aurum Vale are weak vs. ice? Mix blizzard and freeze into your rotations when appropriate and you can save some sweet sweet seconds.
Moogle
Did you know that if you are playing BLM or THM during moogle and get random hate from the Gladiator you can immediately use Sanguine Rite and turn him in to a very effective MP battery with little downside? Just use one of your more potent hate dropping abilities to get rid of him when the buff wears out. Obviously, do not attempt if your group is in trouble or if you are low HP. (note: this is much less effective for a BRD or any other class/job than can use SR as you do not get the damage reduction bonus). This could potentially also work to greater effect with the moogles when they are fat but I have not been brazen enough to test this yet.
Garuda
Did you know that during the Garuda fight the boss will not do anything dangerous until she reaches lower then 90% HP? You can have your tank, melees and bards get hate and TP for as long as they want and still not see a single teleport (until she drops below 90% of course).
Did you know that during the Garuda fight when the boss sends out plumes she will not do a teleport or send out any more plumes until the current ones are either destroyed or explode? You can take advantage this to get more damage time on the boss by leaving one plume alive each time she sends them out (preferably the last one but keeping track of that and not killing it is extremely difficult).
Did you know that during the Garuda fight the boss will continue to teleport forever until her HP falls below 60%? By combining this with the above tip you can significantly extend your group's DPS time before Aerial Burst hits. Many groups take advantage of this these days but I don't think everyone knows why.
Crafting
Did you know that if you have both the Militia Bracelets and the crafting hat for your trade and you attempt to hq an item using only NQ mats your chance to successfully Double Down can very often be greater than or equal to your initial chance to HQ. This can be very helpful if you have a ton of useless NQ gold ore from gathering and want to put it to use (not as useful for darksteel as the drop rate on +1 darksteel ore is not terrible).
