Why must chocobos be our companions

We already have to ride them as mounts , we already see them everywhere people riding them and showing of their armor. There are already in tons of cutscenes and are the paid mounts but now they fill the role of path companion , pet and battle ally. We will also have chocobo farms where we will raise them and perhaps chocobo racing may even come.

I feel like theres a thing as too much chocobo.
I really dont like the idea of my battle companion options being only chocobos with artifact armor on.

Since we get other mount types too. Ahriman , Dragons , Goobue and magitek armor . How bout we could bond choose which one we want as our path companion/battle pet. Have diverse and fun quests with them and summon them in battle.
A Quest where we upgrade our magitek armor
A Quest where we see the goobues family/comic relief quest
A Quest where we help our dragon prove itself to its clan(cliche but cool)
A Quest where we help our ahriman find forbidden curse magicks

Our battle pets dont have to be our mounts. Perhaps we could have a beastmen companion. Perhaps a moogle.

If people want chocobos with artifact gear and little hats and helmets o_O then they can choose them as their battle pets but others who want to use their other mount as a pet then they can choose those.
I dont like the idea of chocobos being everywhere in 2.0. Anyone else feel the same way?

I hear you aren't a final fantasy fan at all then. Something which have followed every final fantasy game is chocobos, and breeding them and battling with them is something most players have dreamed of from final fantasy vii and xi. In the tactics series you can catch different chocobo classes even, so its not really a "new" concept actually, theire just adding what the fans wanted from day one :P (search forum for old posts on chcobo breeding and battling, its LOTS)

Be happy we are getting a companion to fight with at all. As for more options I am never against such an idea but perhaps that is something that would be added later on if the demand for it was high enough.

I think it would be more logical to have a pet class than to give everyone a companion. And seriously, some of us are tired of chocobo. Maybe we're not diehard final fantasy fans like rest of you guys, but it seems kinda lame...

Arcanist/Summoner is a pet class. It doesn't seem lame at all, it was fucking awesome idea and seriously tired of Chocobo? You are playing the wrong game then period. Be happy we are even getting a companion system and actually being able to using an iconic creature from FF titles as more than just a mount.
