It's a game, not an obligation. Real life takes priority over FFXIV anytime.
If people go AFK while having calls turned off, there is a reason for it.
Most people would probably leave it on and actually ask the party to buzz them when everything is ready.

    That's what I would do.
And if, for any reason, the mute option is not there, I'll simply turn ALL game sounds off and put my own music.
I already do that sometimes. So, calls still wouldn't work on people who truly are AFK for a good reason and don't want to be disturbed or annoy everyone in the house.

LOL cash shop! SE's way to tell their player how they appreciate them... pull the carrot and empty your pockets $$$
And to those who support it: you are kicking yourselves. -- We just need to sit back and laugh at people with cash shop items.

Whilst it's true that XIV isn't an obligation, if they're in content and required they should at least explain before going AFK. It's common courtesy.

If it's a real emergency then there's no issue with a call going off once or twice.

Then the problem is not having calls with volume options, but with people lacking courtesy and not informing the party of their AFK intention.

Thus, I support <call> with adjustable/mute volume options.

Sometimes I watch TV while I wait for a party. I guess thats a good reason.
