I don't find it annoying. What I can't repair myself I ask my party members or use the next npc.

XP loss and gear damage (yes, please)
I think gear damage is really a benefit for finding a good pickup group. If there's a cost to your character dying, then you will try harder to stay alive. If nothing bad comes out of it, how many people do you think would just mess around once in a while because they didn't feel like playing for serious? You thought Ifrit was frustrating when you were learning it. Ay yi yi. Gear damage is better than the xp loss people tell me FFXI had too. People need motivators sometimes, and gear damage is one that should stay.
Me.
I don't find gear damage the least bit annoying, but then again I've dealt with gear damage in most of the other MMOs that I play, so I guess I'm just used to it as a fact of life.
I'll take gear damage and NO xp loss, thanks muchly.
No leeching, No PL'ing, just 100% playing the game.
Please don't associate good game design like Dark Souls with garbage mechanics like XP loss. You're probably being sarcastic as far as I can tell but to me, over the years games have gotten too easy and fluffy I now have the Dark Souls mentality in that I prefer a game to be frustratingly difficult rather than simpler. I will still play it.
Bring back xp loss.
In Dark Souls, every death is a lesson, and it's firm but fair. You learn how to be a better player and ultimately you lose nothing but time you spent going through a level or fighting a boss and possibly this game's equivalent of money (souls). You keep your weapons. You keep your levels. Your character isn't the crutch, you are.
XP loss is garbage that makes you afraid to do anything because of the chance that something will go south and cost you a level up and takes a long, LONG time to obtain. It doesn't teach you anything other than to not help other people or be an elitist jerk. Your character becomes something that prevents you from playing the game to its fullest.
XP loss sucks.
I understand what you mean and I agree in principle. But to me, these days I'd rather have tougher draconian elements in a game because it's amusing to me. Sometimes those annoying things in games created memories, even if heart wrenching. The days where you couldn't come on a forum and ask for things to be changed, I guess I just miss the days when these kinds of things were not arguable, you would just wonder what bastard came up with the idea and you'd chug along. Later on you'd remember those terrible things but you'd appreciate the experience anyway. Please don't associate good game design like Dark Souls with garbage mechanics like XP loss.

I agree with you 110%. It's the hard things the make the game fun in the end. On top of it all exp is retardedly easy to get in this game. I felt sad for PLDs in XI before they had campaign because it was annoying to keep an exp buffer but in this game exp is a complete joke.I understand what you mean and I agree in principle. There should be exp loss and gear damage at the same time.
Bring on equipment loss. Hit 0% = Bye Bye
I'm for gear loss and exp damage (you can repair your exp if you give a npc a huge amount of gil)
