    XP loss is stupid and archaic. It worked 10 years ago, but it is unacceptable now. Damaged gear is fine because anyone worth talking to has levelled a craft at some point that can either repair or easily offset the costs.

    It was dumb to keep it in XI as long as they have, too. And no, voting for XP loss doesn't make you hardcore, no matter how bad you wish you were (you're not :P)

    I do no such thing. I do not EVER remove clarity. If I omit something from a post, it is, in my judgement, not something that contributes to the clarity of the post.     Regardless, you must have had some kind of problem with my original post in this thread, otherwise you wouldn't have been driven to criticize me for how I quote posts. If you aren't bothered, why are you commenting on it? If you are bothered, then don't respond to my posts. There's no value in sidetracking a thread like this to complain about the way a person posts.

    I agree just with the first part of your post. A death penality is needed, but as said Gear Breaking is just annoying. Not really a penality.

    I would prefer if gear damage worked like exp loss but it doesnt, right now it wears over time & on knockout. If it just happened after a knockout then I would be ok with it, as it stands its just annoying and a bothersome addition for no good reason.

    i'd wager most people asking for xp loss from death have never been on the edge of progression content. which is what makes it all the more interesting when the reason they cite for it is to make the game harder.

    if you want the game to be harder, wouldn't the most logical step be to actually participate in the game's most difficult content, rather than requesting cheap gimmicks to add artificial difficulty to content designed to be easy in the first place?

    I can understand it's use as a death penalty but having gear degrade on use is pointless and annoying. It's a method that punishes people for playing the game and it's stupid. And like with every other system of it's kind, it punishes the tank classes more than anything else since they are the ones always getting hit on.

    Gear wear on use needs to go away in all MMOs. It's a silly attempt at realism that serves no other purpose and it's a perfect case where realism needs to be sacrificed for better gameplay.

    I would take exp loss over gear damage.

    Gear damage is becoming standard, but more of an annoyance in MMO's I hate it in Guild Wars 2 as well, where it doesn't take long to get damaged gear, and not much longer for broken gear (the point you actually pay an npc to repair it).

    Or perhaps once gear is bounded fully, it would no longer take damage would be nice.

    Anyway taking a break, Halo Forward onto Dawn airs on the web starting this coming friday.

    You deserve a cookie for that comment.

    I don't see how EXP loss on death is required to bring 'difficulty'. What they should be requesting is harder content if they believe everything else is easy or participate in content that is designed for that level of difficulty.

    Also, yes please remove gear damage. I understand its a gil sink but its more so annoying to the game experience.
