You can bold the sentence you want to reply to, and still keep the original post for context purposes. You always try to pick apart posts so you can argue each point instead of the message they are conveying as a whole.
I include what is necessary for context when it is necessary. In this case, it wasn't necessary in my view. As for "picking apart posts", That's simply how I process them in my mind. Sorry if it disturbs you in some way, but it's just how things work. Most people have multiple individual points when debating a topic, and since I'm debating a topic, I prefer to address those points directly and individually. There's nothing wrong with that. It's not part of some strategy to "win" or an ulterior motive. It's just being analytical.
