yeah I'd rather have exp loss than dura. Especially with the numerous things lvl 50's do that give exp.

Let's not forget the other oldies but goldies that come with XP loss: Finger-pointing, rage-quitting, and party-disbanding.

Not that it doesn't happen currently, but boy howdy was it a spicy dish back in XI.

XP loss doesn't matter. Its not a deterrent to dying unless you are on your only max level job/class. In XI we made it a point to have merit parties just to cap XP and merits for each class. You'd go and die several times and as long as you had a raise the xp loss was insignificant. Gear damage is also just an annoyance. Really doesn't end up mattering.

I don't have a problem with it. Don't suck and wipe all the time and you'll barely have to repair.

People who want exp loss should just have their characters erased every time they log out.

You logic in this escapes me. How does that compare to an exp loss upon death? Not that I have a horse in this race, just don't understand the relationship.

It annoying to have to regain level no matter how fast it may be to get back. It's still an inconvenient thing than anything.

It has 0 to do with player skill.

I am not saying I am the best Red Wizard ever. But when the tank dies on a boss and then it comes at me, and I die. What could I do to avoid that death? Nothing. It's not my fault, if the tank dies and the party wipes.

So for people to say they want exp los cause it's a bigger challenge, and makes people try harder. It doesn't. It makes me have to go out of my way for someone else's mistake. To which I say people who want it, should have to lose their levels removed when they log out to know what it feels like.

I think not dying HAS something to do with player skill. Choosing the right people to play with is a skill too.
Of course not dying at all can be really hard sometimes. It depends on play style and who you are playing with.

Ive played FFXI, for at least 4 years. I remember back then it was my first MMO, it took months for me to grasp the game.
I died alot in the first 20 level, but after a whle i died less often.

It was frustrating at times, but for me it was part of the experience. Ive learned how to play over the course of dying alot.

I am not the best gamer so dying helped alot.

I think xp loss is just that little frustrating thing that makes you wonder how you can improve your play to not die that often.
Gear dmg does not do that imo.

Are you implying that I have to level my crafting jobs in order to play a mage ? Oh look I'm level 30 now, I can't fix my gear, I better stop XPing.
