We had that once.unless they take away the lvl requirements for all gear and make it everything optimal...you know sence level sync is coming in 2.0 anyway and they said they are make'n it where you won't need to worry about having tons of gear sets to do lower content with new adventurers. i could see that being one possible road to travel.
And people complained that a level 12 char can wear a dodore doublet.
Now the dodore doublet is still optimal level gear, but unlike earlier now all bonus stats get reduced to zero if the char level is to low.

Am I the only one who doesn't think it's THAT annoying? It's more or less just a mild gil-sink that might get in the way when you've been using your gear for a long time and haven't been paying attention.
Me.
I don't find gear damage the least bit annoying, but then again I've dealt with gear damage in most of the other MMOs that I play, so I guess I'm just used to it as a fact of life.
I'll take gear damage and NO xp loss, thanks muchly.
No leeching, No PL'ing, just 100% playing the game.
I don't find it annoying. What I can't repair myself I ask my party members or use the next npc.
XP loss and gear damage (yes, please)
I think gear damage is really a benefit for finding a good pickup group. If there's a cost to your character dying, then you will try harder to stay alive. If nothing bad comes out of it, how many people do you think would just mess around once in a while because they didn't feel like playing for serious? You thought Ifrit was frustrating when you were learning it. Ay yi yi. Gear damage is better than the xp loss people tell me FFXI had too. People need motivators sometimes, and gear damage is one that should stay.
Bring on equipment loss. Hit 0% = Bye Bye
I'm for gear loss and exp damage (you can repair your exp if you give a npc a huge amount of gil)
Why not whip yourself everytime you die in game? that will satisfy the ones that loves exp loss and will save us the trouble of having that system and everyone will be happy.
In te serious note i prefer by far having gear damaged everytime i die, the system is fine as it is, gives crafters something to do and its not too annoying as it was when the game was released (you needed to get different mats for every gear slot, like a buffalo leather to repair leather gear, iron, bronze plate to repair full plates, etc) now you only need Dark matter, and yeah it makes the game more realistic, if the mob beats you to the pulp, something must broken in your gear after such beating...
Exp loss will only make people to avoid helping new pople and will make the game more elitist than it is right now, i help my friend as much as i can but i avoid the random parties when i want to beat hard content, because theres always someone that doesnt know how to play his role or doesnt know the fight, etc and imagine that you lose exp in every wipe and can dlvl...
