The point is to support equality between old and new classes. Either make all of the classes require effort to unlock or none of them. You want all classes to be unlocked easily? That's fine. You want all classes to require effort to unlock? That's fine, too.

What's silly is arbitrarily having newer classes require extra steps to unlock over existing classes for no reason. Why some and not others? It's an unnecessary distinction that isn't based on anything. No one class is truly better than another.
Why some not others? Because you need some classes to be the staple classes for new players to can pick up and learn to play but not be at a disadvantage to the other advance classes that more veteran players had access to, hence why most staple classes had vital roles in parties. I don't get whats so hard to understand.

Ironically enough in SE attempt to change the old system they created to do away with the subjob effort in FFXI they have essentially turned this game into a very similar system with 2 subjobs, one primary and one secondary but never the less similar restrictions and structure..

This x100 having that stupid Dark sword with like 2 min delay on it to kill mobs was the dumbest idea ever or how about standing in norg for 8 hrs to just unlock sam <.<.

But why should only veterans be able to select the newer classes? What's the point of locking them out to new players? Why should a new player have to play an older class for a while just to be able to pick the class they actually want to play? If a player wants to pick Arcanist as their first class in ARR, they should be able to.

If you want something that only advanced players can play as, we have Jobs. This is exactly what jobs are, advanced versions of classes that we have to work to unlock. There is no need for redundant extra steps to get new classes, when in reality new classes aren't any better or worse than the old ones.

Maybe not a mandatory thing to unlock the class itself, but background history of ALL classes should be extensively put by class quests (which should start at level 1 btw... NOT 20 -.-). If we got class quests every 3-5 levels we would know a whole lot more about our classes than just 3 quests every 10 levels...

I don't think its necessary for me to repeat myself why, over and over, and over again when I explained it quite clearly why. So before I get a brain tumor I'll take my leave from the thread.

All you've said is that you wanted some classes for new players to pick up and play, and some classes that you need to work toward for advanced players to use. But, as I pointed out, we already have that exact system in place, with classes to pick up and play and jobs you have to work toward for advanced players.

I like the idea of advanced classes. (That is, a class without a craft-able lvl 1 weapon.)

You do a quest, and receive the weapon to unlock the class.

However, advanced classes should be introduced as part of a new expansion, and integrated into the new storyline (See FFXI:TAU) .

I don't want Arcanist to be the only DoW/DoM class in ARR that requires a quest to unlock.

It would really be confusing for new players.

There will more than Likely be Classes hat are unlocked by completing quests in the future.. It's just the nature of Final Fantasy. Also, it's a lot of fun.

Will prolly have a simple level requirement though. Not likely to be class locked.
