What i mean is a way to unlock new classes instead of just equiping a weapon. Make a quest or something to unlock new classes.

I love the official forums, they tell you to use the search for thread about what you wanted to talk but when you use it they judge for necro a thread.

Sadly, people enjoy being locked into class = weapon xD It would be nice if it was more in XI style where you need to quest to unlock new classes/jobs, since it does still feel odd that equipping a weapon will immediately make you all encompassing of the class/job's talents, quests actually give you some sense of "training" lol.

Why? What's the point of arbitrarily making some classes harder to get than others? All classes should be viewed equally and treated as such.
I understand that FFXI did it with advanced jobs, but I don't think it made any sense then either.
The bolded is what makes MMORPGs boring and why every new class and race addition is boring after the first 20 minutes -- Class quests doesn't making something harder than others, it gives you content to do rather than going to an NPC and buying a weapon and tada! You're now a master of summoning primals.
If that's your kind of thing more power to you, but there luckily are still a lot of MMO gamers who like doing quests with a purpose.
I'm not saying that it's better to have things handed to you. You're trying to make the same point as Elexia, when my point doesn't have to do with difficulty at all.The bolded is what makes MMORPGs boring and why every new class and race addition is boring after the first 20 minutes -- Class quests doesn't making something harder than others, it gives you content to do rather than going to an NPC and buying a weapon and tada! All classes should be treated equally. That doesn't mean make them easy to get or make them all the same. If all the classes were earned and unlocked through quests, that would be great, but it should be ALL of them or none of them, not just a random selection of classes for no reason.
There's no sense in making some classes easy to get and some classes hard to get when they should all be on a level playing field. That's why Jobs take more work to unlock because they're on a more advanced level than classes.
Advance jobs made plenty sense, as these were jobs that people needed to work towards.. you know not having things being handed to you as most mmos seem to be doing nowadays. In FFXI some jobs were simple base classes like Warrior, White Mage, etc being the staple classes but they were still balanced amongst the advanced jobs that needed to be attained through quests. But you know what? It added some challenge, excitement and something to work towards.I'm not saying that it's better to have things handed to you. I don't get why people feel things should be handed to them without any work into it.
I don't understand why everyone keeps claiming I'm asking to make everything easy. I thought the post of mine you quoted was pretty dang clear that it isn't the case. Once AGAIN, my point has nothing to do with difficulty.Advance jobs made plenty sense, as these were jobs that people needed to work towards.. you know not having things being handed to you as most mmos seem to be doing nowadays. The point is to support equality between old and new classes. Either make all of the classes require effort to unlock or none of them. You want all classes to be unlocked easily? That's fine. You want all classes to require effort to unlock? That's fine, too.
What's silly is arbitrarily having newer classes require extra steps to unlock over existing classes for no reason. Why some and not others? It's an unnecessary distinction that isn't based on anything. No one class is truly better than another.
