I think profession repairs are to blame, going to NPC for repair @5k/item adds up. Many of us don't want to lvl a profession cuz it's a pain in the ass boredom repetitive hours/day task.

No, absolutely not. This is just ridiculous. There should be no death penalty whatsoever. Look, I pay my 10 or whatever dollars every single month and you mean to tell me that I should have to play the game more than already do getting a level back or getting some buffer exp to blow on a few wipes.
It's flat out bad game design these days to make someone have to play more than what they deem viable. I'm already pissed off enough that I even have to sign on most days. And while I'm at it, if I die to Garuda I should still get a chance at a weapon drop at something like 30%. No, that's BS too, it should be somewhere around 80%, because even though I died and spent 17 whole minutes of my life, I should still get a reward for trying and not winning and just not wanting to deal with it anymore!

He didn't word it properly, but in summation what he said in the 1st couple sentences was that he doesn't feel like he should have to do "extra work" in a video game. So let's not pick on what he said and go with the "oh so you think you should get it all" responses.. it's not constructive & leads to lame posts.
The economy of V1.XX wasn't handled that well & a large influx of gil was created by the dev's. I was told leves gave crazy amounts of gil, the Atomos event recently gave out extra gil & there's probably more "leaks" V2.xx will restart a new economy & it's rly upto the dev team to work out the economic factors more precisely w/o leaks/loop holes.

i'd would definitely like to XP loss incorporated into XIV and i think gear damage is pretty balanced as is; it helps to weed out some excess gil and promote repairing each other's gear via DoH - repairing via the npc is pretty pricey but i get it and i like that. if i'm lazy and repair everything even if it's not yellow, there goes 50k.

Like I said, profession repairs took away the gil sink. Dark matter & a few hundred gil.. ur good to go. Not only can they craft items to get rich, but they can repair for free, win/win max profit. And before I get the "so level a profession" speech.. it's so boring to a lot of players. It's like a job.. some ppl enjoy it & some think it's retarded.i'd would definitely like to XP loss incorporated into XIV and i think gear damage is pretty balanced as is; it helps to weed out some excess gil and promote repairing each other's gear via DoH - repairing via the npc is pretty pricey but i get it and i like that. if i'm lazy and repair everything even if it's not yellow, there goes 50k.
