The topic of the post is about the conversion of our char data when ARR comes round, SE said they didn't know how long it would take, but would it not help them if players dump items and clean out house of items they don't need. It would mean less data to convert meaning less down time.

The phase take only what you need to survive comes to mind lol.

But its only a idea, im gonna clean house any way, no point having junk armour parts that will have no meaning in ARR.

would need them to confirm if this would help, but i've already been doing that with the exception of what little i sell

I still have every single type of Old dye and hundreds of moss on one of my retainers that I can't let go of mainly due to how long it takes to get rid of it all.

I dont think it would matter. The transfer takes a month, but the game will take much longer to release. (Betas ans such)

Considering how fast databases do their business, having one person clean up their entire inventory of trash would probably shave mere picoseconds off of the total time.

Plus you have idiots who sell things on wards for less than NPC price just to undercut people and fuck up the value of items, you can't expect people to actually do something beneficial in any way.

While true it will barely do anything, not enough people are smart enough to do something like this. I understand sentimental values and whatnot, but sorry, you no longer need that buffalo strap as its no longer required for..anything that's used in a current recipe.

Server downtime is going to last more than the month needed to transfer character data to the client. Therefor the proposal (while not really helping that much anyway) will not bring A Realm Reborn out any sooner. Sorry to burst your bubble.
