I think AztecGuy was one of the people that my Disclaimer was intended for. Can't fault a guy for not being able to read though.... I guess?
Eh.... im not too worried about spearfishing removal...
Umm, doesn't sound like they're removing the achievements. If anything, they may be getting rid of spear fishing but they are not getting rid of the second hand tool function. They're still keeping all the Grades in all the areas they intend to add them at like 1,2,3,4,5 etc. It wouldn't make sense for them to remove the achievements if the actual Grade things you need to net/fish/spear w/e aren't changing. You'll just be approaching those grades with a new mechanic or Second hand tool now.
Short and sweet version: Second hand tool mechanic may be changing but the achievements are -NOT- The achievements only focus on the Grade locations. They aren't going to punish players who have been using their second hand tool. If you miss out on these spear fishing achievements now, don't sweat it. They'll be in ARR, just that now you will be finishing off the rest of the old achievement under a new name and mini game.

Can SE provide a little more information (like the above) on what is being removed so I can adjust gameplay accordingly? Or do we have to wait one day before servers go offline for that information? >.>Umm, doesn't sound like they're removing the achievements. It will probably be as he said.
They could just stay off hand fishing achievements using some other tool. But we'll see...* Other achievements may undergo changes to their conditions or temporarily become unavailable upon release of A Realm Reborn.

I'd like to believe what Gospel said but I can't believe it until a com rep actually answers clearly on this..
I don't mind if spearfishing is removed in ARR; while I really liked the animation for it, it never got really useful to me, neither exp-wise nor item-wise.
But the achievements are something different. Gathering achievements are the only achievements I actually care about beside the traveling ones and when it didn't say anything about them being removed for ARR I was really happy because it meant having an unlimited amount of time getting them...I don't want them to be gone T_T
Please tell us they are not going to be removed for ARR.
ppl PMSing about the achievement not being on the removed list: gimme a goddanged break. This change was announced after the list was originally published. The list has already been updated once, so you can be sure that it will be updated again.
I do believe you were informed about it in the very post you quoted. And why were we not informed about this?
There is always going to be a delay between when something is posted on the JP board and when it appears here. It's been the case for all time and will continue to be the case for the rest of time. Deal with it.
As for the rest of your post, read the first part of mine.
I'm also rather laughing about the people who give a care about these achievements in the first place. Nobody cares that you spearfished 10,000 things from <insert grade here> fishing points. NOBODY.
I really don't have anything against achievements, and I'm trying to get what ones I can myself. But if an achievement is removed, so what? Really, so what? Nobody else can get it either. It's especially pointless complaining about certain achievements like get 3218746324 of this or 8327468325 of that that nobody has actually achieved yet. such achievements will just disappear and nobody in the future will even know they existed.

I may not care whether somebody has beaten Garuda 500 times, has full darklight and all 7 relic weapons but I would never point that out...Damn, now look what you made me do!
Personally, I work towards goals in the game for my own personal gratification and not to show off to others. I also understand that people play the game for different reasons with different goals and I respect that unlike some people obviously...
I've noticed it's very hard talking with these kinds of people. They simply don't understand that MMO's, by nature, attract a large variety of players. Many of these players play for different reasons, or even a mixture of reasons.I may not care whether somebody has beaten Garuda 500 times, has full darklight and all 7 relic weapons but I would never point that out...Damn, now look what you made me do!

The following is an article detailing the basic four types of gamers, which can be combined into different mixtures; sometimes all four. However, people usually gravitate towards one that they identify with most.

I apologize if it's a little out of date; but the fundamental principles still apply.
Achiever - Someone who likes to achieve goals in the game, kill every monster, get every item, get all achievements. Some do it for the recognition of others, and some just love the fact that they have done everything the game has to offer. (Something that Alhanelem fails to understand)
Explorer - Someone who prefers to look for new areas in the game, check every nook and cranny. These are the people that went and explored all of Eorzea, regardless of the super high level monsters. These are also the people that found some of the unused areas, which opened up many topics of speculation as to their future use.
Socializer - Someone who prefers talking with other in linkshell chat, tagging along for an event just for the fact that they can "hang out" and talk with others. Someone who uses emotes a lot to show their emotions in game.
Killer - These are the people that love killing monsters all the time. They love a good fight, and look forward to each new challenge so they can master their kill strategies and defeat that monster over and over. They also are anxiously awaiting for PvP to be available in 2.0 so that they can kill other players, whether for bragging rights or for the sheer joy of doing so.
I hope this sheds some light on different "types" of gamers, and the potential people we may be playing with at any given time. Many people will refuse to understand it, but those that do will usually have a richer play experience because they will be able to identify why someone may choose what they do.
