Old Players, New Worlds - A problem arises?

Ok, im an old player, been playing for two years, seeing how the economy was broken from week one, the only way to really get money was using what most people call exploits (i.e. Atomos).

ARR is a new game, with new leveling systems and a fresh start, BUT. In the last live letter Yoshida said new players could choose new worlds, existing ones couldd only choose existing worlds. Give me one reason to start a new character on a broken world from the start please?

In theory, what i want is to start a new character on a new server when ARR is released, i dont want to start a new character on a world where everyone has endgame gear and max gil.

What is the point of being a legacy player if you cant play the way you want? So old players cant make a new character on new servers, why did i wait so long for ARR then? i dont feel like buying a new game either after 2 years of subbing either.

So in the end, i hope he just said wrong and existing players can make new characters on new worlds, just that you cannot move old characters to new worlds.

Anyone have any more info on this? Also, would be great if a moderator could tell.

You do realize that you can make new characters on new servers, right? They're talking about characters made prior to 2.0 who can't move until a later date.

I think you're confusing everything on your own.
You can't move your old CHARACTER in a new server, but you can create a new one

Q: Will current players and new players be able to play together from launch?
A: First of all, we will definitely be increasing the number of worlds. PS3 players and new PC players will be able to select any world when making a new character, including currently existing worlds. So if your friend is joining after A Realm Reborn begins, they can choose your world. It will absolutely be possible to play together.

He says new players especially can make a new character on a new world, of course, could be he forgot to say the whole thing etc, but when you say it like this, it normally means exactly what it says, thats why im worried.

When making a new character you can choose ANY world.

It's not poorly worded or anything, I'm not sure how you're being confused by this.

it would suck to locked down to a server and if you have friends that want to star.

We will be setting up fresh new Worlds for the new players so that they build the economy from the ground up and if an existing player wanted to play on a new World, they would have to create a new character on that World.

New players wanting to play with existing players will be able to create a new character on their World as long as the population limit has not been reached. We currently have no plans of setting up a new World where existing players can transfer to right at launch.

So when determining how to price gil sinks in the market (such as dynamis-like raids) how will you determine the cost? If one server has a brand new economy and another server has millions of gil, you will either have:

    1. a high-price, easily affordable on old servers but not affordable on new servers

    2. a low-price, easily affordable everywhere ruining the gil sink concept

    3. Two/Multiple different prices which will never be fair as it is nearly impossible to create an index of players who have lots of gil but aren't currently playing, and nearly impossible to predict when players hoarding gil will return.

Or you completely limit the game from any price controls what-so-ever, which seems like a recipe for disaster.

So basically, how does SE intend to deal with the obvious economic problem of having multiple DIFFERENT economies, without creating unfair policies that benefit one server over another, and alienate players or cause mass-migrations when server transfers are open?

And if this doesn't sound like a serious issue. Consider applying US monetary policy to Nigeria, or Canada, or France. Ask any economist and they will tell you what a disaster it would be.

Nobody is going to have max gil in 2.0 from the start. Even if somebody has 999,999,999 gil right now, thier gil will be reduced to 99,999,999 and the cap is staying at 999,999,999.

Would you guys please stop creating threads envisioning problems where there are none? Please, for our sanity's sake!

At one point, the server you are currently on had 0 gil in it's economy too. They will be fine.
