I do seem to understand that closed/open BETA would seem as protocol, I also understand despite the ambition for quality, open BETA should be skipped, if they already have plans to release FFFXIV:ARR. I mean, fine if we still do (probably for free play-time) but I would sure want my PS3 copy of ARR as soon as I can possible get it already... it's been delayed for so long already.

I think its the mentality of defending the team rather than making the system work the way that would be easiest and most logical for the players. I really am not sure why they don't want it made right the first time. Theres no reason for it not to work correctly when there is clearly an easy solution for one item on multiple sets.

Do not defend something thats broken or not optimally set up. The game MUST exceed expectations if its going to make a recovery and win people and reviewers alike when it launches. Try to help them succeed.
Honestly, I understand that the dev's are working hard to please people, but I'm so tired of the sucking up and ass-kissing that goes on in the FF community. I remember when I played FFXI english players treated JP players like demi-gods.. get over it, they are just like us. "JP players > English players" Okay I can appreciate the culture & so forth but you don't have to kiss ass. My closest friend is Asian & I enjoy the culture & respect it, but I don't kiss ass & neither does he.

People need to give feedback that's honest not this crap of "oh well... they are doing their best & will work it out later" Guess what? the rest of the gaming community isn't gonna be thinking that. But just like they treated me they are gonna treat them "if you don't like it then leave!" & they will, simple. The sucking up attitude along w/ lack of experience in what's out there = crappy reviews & critiques. Also very narrow-minded & not new player friend attitudes (not all, but most, least in the forums. In-game I have found some rly nice players).

Your post is the greatest post I have ever seen. I didn't read most of it, but I read parts of it 10 times over. I even clicked the like button. Can I have the stuff you don't like when 2.0 gets released?

Keep in mind that this game cannot be calibrated for any single player, and the medium is not you.

hey, angry eji here and i obviously don't build and code video games so this will be pretty naive but if this engine is anything worth a shit wouldn't making a macro to have the ability to switch gear sets be something incredibly easy? why are things like this put on the back burner? if the whole gear set thing from the live letter is translated correctly what idiot thinks it's a good idea to need two instances of an item to use in multiple gear sets? that's the most retarded thing i've heard. let me go get multiple darklight pieces so i can use them in different gear sets although they're u/u and i cannot have more than one in my inventory at a given time. this all doesn't even make sense!

this kind of attitude is what's going to make them release this game unpolished and it's going to fail. they NEED to take as long as necessary until every bug is fixed and disputed element is changed. no if, ands or buts.

I agree with both sides of this "debate" i only see one glaring problem with getting into heated arguments about particular elements of ARR. No one has played it yet. most of the opinions are based on less than half of the information. How can you be justified in getting so hot under the collar about things like the graphics, Gear, and other features they are still working on and we havent tinkered with.

at this stage all we can do is ask questions about what we have heard leaked thus far. What we have heard may not even play out they way some of us are envisioning in our heads. I'm not defending SE or anyone, I too want this game to succeed and to do that they cant have a repeat of 1.0 launch. I am a fanboy but as a fan i am just as critical as most of you. i've actually had a post removed and was banned for a time because of something i posted critiquing the direction SE seems to have been heading.

all i'm saying is we need to be making educated and informed feedback and not just knee-jerk reactions to something we have "heard" about.

Actually, this seems like a thing that is a major blockade on programming level. They do have the idea on the aliases as they've mentioned, but that... That is a feature that can break easier than a glass ceiling during a hail of cars. I'm not a professional programmer but a little earlier in some other thread there was a comment from someone who knew more, it essentially sums up to "It has a very high possibility of the real piece of equipment vanishing from everywhere". I'd rather they don't risk it, sincerely.

That's the point. If you put your darklight gear in a gear set it is no longer in your inventory. Your inventory is then free for new darklight gear.
