    Similar monsters from FFXI to FFXIV? (examples)

    We already know that the design of Goblins (like the Goblin Thugs) from FFXI were carried over / enhanced for FFXIV. As I was going through some picture folders I have on my laptop, this came to mind:

    Do you think it's possible that the development team could carry over some monster types from FFXI to FFXIV? So far they've done it with Treants, Raptors, Bombs, Crabs, Funguars, Cactuars, etc. Albiet they have redesigned Treants, Crabs, and Funguars...

    Yoshi-P has stated before that this game wanted to bring forth nostalgia from past games such as concepts and locations. So why not monsters? I made a thread a month and a half ago about monsters, though I did little to explain on that thread other than saying to bring back some of the beastmen from FFXI and possibly make them passive like the Goblins.

    What are your thoughts, everyone?

    Think I'd rather see monsters from some of the older FF titles more so than a direct import from FF11. Was really happy to see the Yellow Dragon from FF4 in the limit break trailer.

    Well.....quite a bit of monsters not used in dats and some used are direct imports with some updates or clearly based on a FFXI version. Even the Raffelsia and Mandies are straight from XI xD.

    XI still had a lot of great models that could be used which in itself were updated models of older enemies.

    Agreed, they had really good models. I couldn't take the ones in FFXI too seriously..they looked like these obese furry flying cyclops things.

    Imho they have done ahriman perfectly in ffxiv. Best yet in the series for that particular mob.

    I look forward to seeing behemoths (2.0), I hope they add a giant wall crashing boss (the ones that are usually placed in a hall and have a tonberry like mechanic to them - and love casting death and or petrify).

    Speaking of that, tonberries would be great lol.

    I remember seeing concept art of the Demon Wall when they were doing the forum wallpaper event, so I imagine we'll see it in ARR.

    I can't imagine that not being in the labyrinth dungeon we're getting in ARR. It would be cool if the fight was be similar to how it was in FFXII.

    I would like to see more redesigns. They have direct copied quite a few mobs directly from the XI assets, and I don't like that.
