Even though those pics are high-res they don't do 1.0 and justice. lol

Well....what exactly do you want? I stated that those were taken with the highest settings, killing my FPS at the same time. What more do you want? If you're asking for perfect angles and settings and positions, I'm sorry, I'm not a professional photographer IRL, let alone in-game.

@ valmonte
looks boring and static to me if i compare it with the regions and details of 2.0.
as maybe as the screenshots do for 2.0.
when you play the game its just different than playing the game itself in front of your pc.
but i think the graphics are partly less good in 1.0. (especially the environment) than in your mind.
This Graphic ordeal is just a workout ya know? Cartoon? Realism? In-between? I can care less -.- as long as the game itself is awesome and have a lot of content, and the battle system is engaging I'm a happy camper. Styled Graphics is what I like the most, it doesn't have to be HD. XI had that Styled Graphics and almost every place was perfectly executed. ( No I don't want it to be FFXI). I just like Style graphics over HD Graphics ^.^.
You know how long the forums have been arguing about the Graphics alone? I'm stressed out =(.
The new engine for ARR makes in-game look a lot closer to the beautiful art maybe thats where ppl get its "cartoony" in no way i see it cartoony lol 1.0 loses all life when made into the game when ARR comes out ill spend quite a long time looking around all the details its gonna be amazing ^^

why does everyones pics look so bad.

Yes ARR is looking to be a beautiful game with a lush environment, full of things to see and explore but the graphics are definitely a lot less realistic looking. Sure there are a lot more natural elements (such as sunlight) that come into play in ARR that aren't in 1.0 but the current ARR is not something that you could confuse with a picture of real life.
I'm sure they were sacrificed to make the game run at a smoother pace, but its still a downgrade.

When I looked at the 1.0 Alpha graphics.. the characters looked basically the same as the ones in 2.0Yes ARR is looking to be a beautiful game with a lush environment, full of things to see and explore but the graphics are definitely a lot less realistic looking. I think it's silly for anyone to make judgements before the game has been released.. but of course that's not going to stop stupid people from making stupid comments.
Screenshots are always subjective.
For example, look at the lush thanalan picture. The (lack of) shadows reminds me of what we see in alpha footage of ARR.
Also, ARR's magic effects are not really that different from our current ones - see the flare image. Whether or not we will still have high texture details like in the eft screenshot... we'll have to wait till beta for that I guess.
The only thing I am concerned about in ARR is animation quality. That will have to wait till beta, too.
edit: added 2 more pictures, more here
