I'm also not a big fan of this aggro icon but the function isn't what I bugs me the most, it's how it's presented. So here's what I thought:
Either this
or this
I certainly don't want to see a big icon on every aggroing mob I see.

I'm surprised they didn't do it like that in the first place. So it's not right in your face, but you can check it by targeting. I would prefer that.

What you have described is a game called DarkFall. A game made by gamers for gamers.I don't want this game like ffxi or wow. I want it to be its own mmo. I don't like how the dev team is catering to us like little kids. If enough of us want something, they will look in on how to implement it. I want it to be their game, not ours. I want them to take a chance at something. Maybe through in some ideas from... lets say.. another mmo, like mabinogi? I don't know about you guys, but I lost the sense of adventure when they added the monster aggro tag. They are making this game to easy, I for one want to be thrown into a game, get chewed up and spit out again. The only mmos that I've played that gave hardly any direction was Mabinogi and FFXI. I just like the sense of feeling lost in a different world. Why go for tutorials? Why show us where everything is? Why not let us figure that stuff out and have fun with it. But meh, I'm just ranting.
But marketing wise, it isn't going to garner the same sales and subscriptions as a developer targeting the wider audience.
SE took a chance and released the game as it was. And now they take a new chance to regain their time in the spotlight in the market.
When did I say anything about the gamers making the game, I hate how anything we cry about, they will put in. I don't want that, I want the dev. team to make the game how they think it should be. I mean come on its square, they know what we like. But when you get everyone saying I WANT THIS, I WANT THIS, I WANT THIS. It will turn into a very bad game. 100 great ideas mixed into one is worse then the worst idea you can come up with. Just doesn't work. What you have described is a game called DarkFall.
