    Relics in ARR

    Now before you leave I would like to state this isn't a QQ double melds suck hate thread. Also, I would like to state that I personally do not have a relic. This is a thread about how a relic is obtained.

    In ARR I would like to see the relic weapons feel a little more ancient and feel a bit more unique. From my understanding the Relic weapon quests are really just copy pasted for each job. This makes me sad. These weapons are supposed to be legendary! I feel like there should be some huge overarching story about them and obtaining each one should be a unique experience.

    I know that they're changing the quests in ARR and I don't really care how much work I have to put into the weapon as long as the journey was well worth it. I would like more content for those of us who like to read between the lines and don't see CSs as an annoyance but rather a broadening of the world's horizons.

    IIRC, we have been told that quest progress in "a relic reborn" will be maintained, even if other quests have to be restarted. Mostly because it would be creul to tell people already up to Ifrit Extreme that they have to start again.

    No, you've brought up a point that I hadn't thought of. Maybe they could use this idea for the next tier of legendary weapons like Mythics in FFXI or maybe a storyline to improve relics more through the use of Magitek. ^^

    I like that too. I'll use this as my excuse not to start on it yet. haha.

    If they are staying the same that kind of contradicts what Yoshida said about Speed runs being abolished. >.<

    I hope they have more depth and story to them as well. I loved in FFXI how each weapon had a story to tell and could talk to you. In FFXIV its just cut paste boring story blah blah

    I haven't gotten mine yet because Summoner isn't out (Currently don't care for any of the jobs) and I want to do the quest in 2.0 for better experience. As the game is now its like yayy I can hurry and get my relic weapon..to stand in town with it and do nothing. lol

    This is the same reason I can't decide to stay a Lalafell or switch to a manthra in 2.0... I love seeing a "taru" in SMN AF it reminds me of my character from FFXI. ^^;

    Well, on the other hand, they could always change the means of getting each part done...

    The progression will very likely remain as:
    hamlet seals > broken weapon retrieval & double-melded class weapon > 3 x mythril ore and salts > Caravan/Darkhold/Behest perfections > Spiritbonding > Beastman Currency > Faction Leve > Garuda and Ifrit Extreme.

    But exactly how each part changes is yet to be seen. eg: How to get the miser's mythril and aurum salts.

    As long as it doesn't turn into the way FFXI is right now I'll probably be happy. I hate grinding High-level NMs all so one person in a party/LS can get work on their weapon done. I loved FFXI but it's recent decline into a luck-based game is why I've come back to FFXIV and so far I'm loving every minute of it. The devs are so much more responsive and keen to listening to player input and I love it!

    I'd love to see a relic quest implemented so that players could entirely solo them with their own time and or a 4 players quest so that we don't have to spend months and months jsut because we can't find a group. This game was supposed to enable players to enjoy it as a group as well as solo, maybe implementing a way to work on our own relic on our own but taking longer than we would be able as a group?
