Do you really want to see Sky 2.0 in FFXIV?

I seen a lot of posts where people say Sky was great they should bring it back.

But was it really that great or is it just rose tinted nostalgia glasses? Having to compete against the whole server for a bunch of 3-6 hour time spawned trigger nms, Faust, Ullikummi, Motherglobe, Zipacna, Steam Cleaner, come to mind.

So my question would you rather have a zone where you compete against the whole server for a handful of 3-6 hours time pop NMs to get trigger items to fight gods, or would you rather just go in an instance and kill some boss NMs?

I'm fairly certain most people asking for "Sky" in a Realm Reborn are referring to the concept, not the content. They want a zone (whether it be for for endgame or other purposes) located in the sky.

Most people who liked sky was referring to:

    1. The Scenery.
    2. The feeling of accomplishment when you first gained access to it.
    3. The music.
    4. The story behind it.

Obviously the content itself, but when you think of a FF MMO, you will immediately think of some kind of magical surreal zone like that.

We really need unlockable special scenery zones after completing epic storylines for that sense of accomplishment that creates nostalgia.

I also liked 24-man semi-competitive content (competition for pop items, proprietary NM's), I think it was well balanced until RMT farmed them non stop.

    This is true.
Just slapping awesome areas like that on this game does not make this a memorable game.

It has to tick the rest of those boxes as well and that means it also has to be unique to this world.

Yes to all of the above. With Dalmund FF XIV is already primed to introduce that type of area.

Main thing I liked about sky was not being able to fully rely on magic and just rushing through without doing more harm than good back in the day.

Sure these days people will cry for their mommies if you have obstacles in your MMO, but shit it was fun actually seeing a place where magic is forbidden and "freedom to roam" is forbidden actually living up to it's name.

Clearly a troll. Do not feed. He was obviously talking about the setting, not carbon copying the content system.
