As long as an iPhone or other such expensive device isn't required, I support this. I'm also not into phones. I don't want to be that guy who goes out with friends, but is giving his phone more attention that anyone else he's with, you know the type. So annoying and disrespectful!

As a counter measure to manipulation, each device would need to operate on an algorithm similar to the key-fob that came with the CE. It's a common security counter measure and could be implemented easily.

Great idea OP although did you ever own PocketStation from Final Fantasy VIII!? Same thing!!!

Molly: It can be multi platform, iPhone is one of the biggest products so to not develop a cool app for FFXIV will be backwards, things are not limited to just eggs/chocobos but because the interface really only needs to work via a jpg and exp bar, have the app always open on Lodestone with security key screen still needed to be entered. Eggs/Chocobos/Repairs/rested bonus gain etc

Amen! I would have no such reservatiopns towards raising my chocobo in the many meetings I have at work or on the commute so I fully support this idea.
