    Item Retrieval 2.0

This is a thought that has been on my mind since I believe the known 100 inv limit and I"m not sure if anything has been said about retainers.

So let's say SE makes 2.0 100 inv and retainers 100 inv. So we went from 600 INV I believe to 200. Now I'm not complaining about the space but rather the trouble it will be to obtain the items back or rather how do they plan to go about it?

As a simple suggestion I think when they make the retrieval system they should setup two codes for the items, a "name" code or ID number that's designated to the specific character, so for rare/exclusive items, they can only be re-obtained by x player. However for items like ores/fish/food and materials in general any character attached to said account can retrieve it.

So when given the option to retrieve the items we would be given two option, First one would be "Character Designated" Which would have a list of items that only a specific character can retrieve. Then the other option would be "Generic Items" items which any character on said account on same server can retrieve. By doing it this way it would allow for less headache to the players trying to reorganize their inventory if they were unable to do it beforehand and with the mail system they could easily send items between players if needed.

To me personally going into 2.0 it would be a bit troublesome to have to clear out my full inv while attempting to retrieve the large amount of items stored by the NPC. If you can do something like the above it would allow players to go through the process in a more speedy fashion and then they would be able to spend more time playing with the actual content rather then trying to figure out where everything is.

You are suggesting that they put extra work into a system that will only ever be used once. Don't hold your breath.

Or how about, the NPC can hold them indefinitely, and you can just pick and choose what to take out when you want.

Yep, this. I believe that's the plan. NPC holds onto your stuff for you until you retrieve it. You can't give anything back to it, so you take stuff out as you go, then it's empty, you're done with it, and that matter's settled. X)

Is there anything officially saying what total inventory will be? for self and retainer? I was told by a friend that on XI you can store anything and everything at a house or something, this true?

Be nice to have a list to select what items to take out first...

Currently, we have 500 slots per character, not counting bazaars and armoire storage. Each retainer only has 150 slots (again, not counting their bazaars) and a character has 200 = 150 + 150 + 200 = 500.

As for the retrieval system, I doubt it will be account based in itself. I do however suspect that there will be a/some account based storage option/s down the line so at that time you could withdraw the items on one character and then access them from another on the same account. Good riddance to 4 slot trades to get things from one character to another!

Note: Acct based storage has not been confirmed as far as I know, I just think and hope it will happen. Yoshi wants this game to stand up proudly to global standards and acct based storage is pretty standard these days.
