This is a thought that has been on my mind since I believe the known 100 inv limit and I"m not sure if anything has been said about retainers.

So let's say SE makes 2.0 100 inv and retainers 100 inv. So we went from 600 INV I believe to 200. Now I'm not complaining about the space but rather the trouble it will be to obtain the items back or rather how do they plan to go about it?

As a simple suggestion I think when they make the retrieval system they should setup two codes for the items, a "name" code or ID number that's designated to the specific character, so for rare/exclusive items, they can only be re-obtained by x player. However for items like ores/fish/food and materials in general any character attached to said account can retrieve it.

So when given the option to retrieve the items we would be given two option, First one would be "Character Designated" Which would have a list of items that only a specific character can retrieve. Then the other option would be "Generic Items" items which any character on said account on same server can retrieve. By doing it this way it would allow for less headache to the players trying to reorganize their inventory if they were unable to do it beforehand and with the mail system they could easily send items between players if needed.

To me personally going into 2.0 it would be a bit troublesome to have to clear out my full inv while attempting to retrieve the large amount of items stored by the NPC. If you can do something like the above it would allow players to go through the process in a more speedy fashion and then they would be able to spend more time playing with the actual content rather then trying to figure out where everything is.
