Inflation never happens in a vacuum.

Inflation never happens in a vacuum.
An Aware, Informed, and Critical community is vital for the success of a game.~ John "Totalbiscuit" Bain

I took advantage of this nearing the end just to put myself at the 10 million marker. Prior to this I've been making all my gil via normal means (Close to 6 million pre-exploit.) by crafting equipment to sell on the wards. My reasoning was purely simple really, to combat the gil reduction we've got coming into 2.0. I know others who hit this nonstop even when the clusters had dropped. I'll definitely agree that this was some kind of exploit undoubtedly but if I'm going to lose a good chunk of my gil anyway I may as well lessen the impact a little.
And something to think about to those who are saying remove the influx of gil created from this event. The only way this could happen is if they did a character rollback to before the event came out. First off, it's hard to discern just where all the gil came from. It's already begun circulation into the community so you might even already possess some from a sale you did over the market wards. Really there isn't a way to remove it period without harming the rest of the community.
And if you're in favor of a rollback consider this: Doing so will reverse all progress people made in that time frame too. Luminaries earned, gil gained through normal means, level progression, rare drops, etc. Could be easy to say "Well just blame the exploiters." but would you be saying the same thing if say a piece of Darklight gear dropped earlier on in the week and a rollback stole it away from you? I think not.
I doubt this had anything to do with your economy. The reason people are buying up items is because they want to avoid the 1/10 tax. It's got nothing to do with Atmos really.
True there is some inflation but calling this an exploit is funny.. From my understanding it was very time consuming to do. Also where do you draw the line? Is gathering "too many" crystals and selling crystals on the market an "exploit" too.. because I'm sure a lot of people have made bank on that as well.
Relax, everything is under control and no, your economy is not "destroyed".. people are just moving to comedies to avoid the coming tax, it's a very normal thing to do, after 2.0 prices will fall accordingly as supply will be great.
If Nel was in charge she'd steal everyone hard earned gil before she thought twice about it.. I'm glad she doubled back on that. lol

this, really you needed a bot, good luck and 16+ hours per day playtime to make more then 3-4M per day off atomos, its the people that have gil trying to dodge the gil wipe thats screwing up the economy, and if you want to blame someone blame SE for not having any gil sinks in the game.

"Wha... I only have four capped crafts clearly i don't want to level DoH whaaa."
Maybe not in a topic on the forums but I have reported bots to GMs. Thank you for choosing what I see and do though. I didn't realize you were standing over my shoulder as I played.

agreed, or they have to do some retroactive gil adjustments.with the exploit and the MASSIVE gil surge are a result, there should be a cap on gil per account going into 2.0 Yes people are going to get a reduction (9/10s) but there are people that have destroyed server economies with this exploit in their attempts to have the most gil / materials / etc. in 2.0 launch.
With that in mind there should be a limit of say.. 10million per account (100 million currently) that should be allowed to transfer over. This hard cap would bleed out a lot of pointless gil gained from abusers of the Atomos event.
Really.. if SE wanted to really protect the economy they would shutdown those leve bots that have been running since launch, Nel doesn’t complain about that no..

I made 26mil off this event lulz.

Everyone is overreacting. The exploit lasted less than 10 days. Even if you played 16 hours a day for 10 days, at most you only made a rough 120M. Maybe a handful per server made 200-300. Most only made 10-30 because they have work or school. In 2.0 that 120M is 12M. No one capped gil on Atomos alone.
The economy is already recovering and prices are going down. People are mining, spiritbonding and so on. It'll be back to normal in a few days.
