I dont get why doing quests so much worse than going to natalan and killing the same enemies over and over for an hour. Weee, you're doing the same thing.

do not talk only about natalan. you forget how repetive leveling till then can be. solo you spam guildleves which are not more than simple kill tasks.
in 2.0. guild leves still will be there for people who do not have much time and just want to kill monsters. thats fine. then we will have the oportunity to chose between quest leveling, guildleve leveling.. and leveling through instances.
which i think is a bigger choice than we have now. and a bigger variety is good in my opinion.
well its exactly the same graphics engine (luminous studio engine) which was used in the "agnis philosophy tech demo"
which for me does not look "cartoony" but as you can see.. the color set seams to be almost the same.
look at the gold, at his skin color, the shadows. of course FFXIV has less details. its an MMO
but you can see the graphics style is almost the same.

STOPTo this point XIV has become more skill based than XI, but what we know of the combat changes make ARR look like a kiddie game. TP is now handled for you. You no longer have to consider recast timers, and you're locked out for 3 seconds, lessening any gap in technical speed between players. You'll never have to worry about positional combos again, save for the opening direction.
Unless SE is holding back a significant twist for battle in 2.0, the skill component is going to be compromised even beyond XI, and XI had other redeeming qualities that XIV has never achieved.
give me an example of where skill is required in this game
Quest Grinding in most MMOs that use it as a progress usually goes like:
1. Start Quest.
2. Skip NPC dialog because let's face it, it has no purpose for anything other than space filler.
3. Kill your 4-120 Boars.
4. Go to same NPC or Go to next NPC it points you to.
5. Rinse and Repeat 82,920 times.
Sound familiar? Yeah because the Guildleve system already was the "quest grinding" of generic (Standard) MMORPGs.
Two things:do not talk only about natalan. you forget how repetive leveling till then can be. solo you spam guildleves which are not more than simple kill tasks.

1. It's not the same engine, so stop comparing it, it was stated BY YOSHIDA HIMSELF, it's not the same engine.
2. Your comparison doesn't even work, so stop doing it every topic.
What people fail to realize, is that everything that's been changed over the past year is SE's way of slowly spoon-feeding you 2.0.
Basically, they're updating gameplay elements the best they can in the current build, so the transition is easier.
Tera's graphics are ok, but the armour? WTF do I always have to wear a bathrobe ?It really looked like both of those korean games used the same graphics as TERA.
The TERA graphics are nice in some areas.. but the trees (the leaves) and the graphics of the characters imo isn't that great.
I prefer Final Fantasy XIV's graphics over TERA graphics any day.
The characters look so much better in FFXIV
Proof reading helps to ensure you're understood. Also, short concise thoughts... preferably ones that don't repeat. The game looks good to me. Considering what they've accomplished with 1.0, I'm confident ARR will excel. I'd still be playing 11 if they didn't butcher it. The graphics will endure.Ok, what is a inevitable is the fact that SE wont please everyone, in fact nobody ever is able to please everthing, that is the nature of things. I can already see threads in a few months from people complaning about 2.0 and how 1.0 was better. I can almost see it lol.
I will try to share my IDEAS of what I think happened and it happening with all this "grass issues" , animation "down grades" AI this AI that.
Plase keep the white knithing away and the trolling away.
Onto my ideas. Keep in mind that these are things I think happened to be civilized on your responses.
At the very beggning and early planning stages of 14, I think Tanaka, SE and everyone else involved were tooo ambitious and had no real CLEAR idea of what to do. Graphicwise the game was TOO TAXING on systems and I think we got "spoiled" by the still AMAZING level of detail the game had. This includes the "little animations that we all love" like walking, momentum etc etc etc.
We all know and can speculate if the game was rushed, poorly coded bla bla bla. That is all in the past and that happened and it is what it is.
ARR is what i think the game "was supposed to be" Maybe SE targeted too high on graphics and other things? I am by no means a master or an expert at coding and all that stuff but makes me think that perhaps they aimted too high and in order for htem to have the game "funcional" and more "playable" they needed to do some downgrades.
We CANT have everything can we? I am not saying this is good or this is bad, but it is what it will be and there is almost NOTHING we can do at this point to change SE mind on the direction the game is heading.
All there is left for us to do is to wait, see the final product (post BETA) and then make our choice if what is delivered to us appeals to us or not.
I personally do NOT want this game to be a WoW clone. I like what a Final Fantasy stands for. Story, exploration, AMAZING cut scenes and things like that.
WoW, Rift, and even the newly-released guild wars 2, have a very VERY poor story telling mechanic. Most of those games are about PVP and "tier or seasons" of gear.
From the last trailer I saw, (THE TGS one) in MY opinion the graphics (I DARE SAY IT) even look "cell-shaded" it look bad for me and totaly looks more cartoony. That is the way i see it and well once the game is out I will decide if is appeals to me or not.
All the other things "the grass" the "animations" this, that.. well people we gain some things we loose others. In the end we will decie if what SE delives to us will be wroth our money.
I am starting to get a little bit "affraid" of the direction the game is taking. If this ends up being a "World of Fantasycraft" i am gone!
