Looking at the reaction around the web for this trailer I'd say it was a success...

in alienating possible customers =(

How come almost every other FF game gets better marketing trailers and ads than ARR?

I'm no director but to me the music-editing and pacing of this trailer makes ARR trailers seem amateurish.


There clearly is cool material in the game as evidenced by gamescom video. Concept art for ARR is stunning. What I'm saying is that you already have the goods but you're presenting it in a really bad way.

Even splicing CG with in-game stuff can be done in a way that doesn't feel cut and pasted:

Sex sells! You got a lot of single men, some unable of obtaining any type of female companionship, so they make Mithras....

As for the whole marketing thing. There is really no need, people who know of XIV don't want anything to do with it and most of the people who play it are ashamed that they play it. SE wants better numbers "MAKE THE GAME GOOD" Don't copy shit from other games. Make it unique and challenging that will bring back the loyal fan base. With social media these days if a item is good it does not need a single commercial just a "share" or "Tweet" and it will grow.. But this will only happen if it is like I said three sentences back "GOOD"

Did we need two very similair CGI trailers when the second one was clearly much better? What's the point of this new TGS trailer when the only new footage is lagging and dropping frames all over the place?

The limit break trailer was a good level of quality IMO (although the text prompts looked really amateurish to me).

I agree less is more especially when the quality of more is less.

Obviously the devs aren't doing the trailers but why are especially these clips so cheesy compared to other FF and SE titles?

Agreed. Poor choice of voice acting and over the top typeface didn't work for this trailer in my opinion.

The only thing that did seem to work was the stunning visuals, but everyone KNOWS to expect that when watching anything final fantasy related.

I'm talking about the cinematic quality you hurp a durp.

Shitty Frame rate/crappy camera angles ect is a seperate issue.
