Wrong, The Bad Players not wanting to improve encouraged bad Gameplay and Bad players, many a time i tried to explain DD and Mage concepts to ppl in XI and they just did not want to listen. THE WORST was gear swapping... ppl meleeing in Kirins osode just cause it said +10 on stats. No atk Food, No acc Food on mobs with high eva, yet it was the AA system that caused retardation, come on man it was the ppl not the system.

I'll be brutally honest. I did not discover the subtleties of the current battle system for months. Now that I have it's like the game completely opened up to me in a very enjoyable way. Now the unfortunate thing is, I have my main class at R47 now, and completed all but the final (current) story mission.

Where a fault may lie in SE's design is that it takes too long too learn the depths of the system and take advantage of it. I like to consider myself fairly adept at gaming, coming from the earlier generation of gamers (AKA I started gaming on the NES). Despite my enjoyment for all things gaming, it did seem to take a long time to learn this system. If I recall correctly (and unfortunately this puts me in the good things from XI club), you were forced to learn to take advantage of the FFXI battle system by rank 20 or you were completely crushed. That is with auto attack too I might add.

It looks like Auto-Attack coming whether I like it or not. I hope that Auto-Attack is added in such a fashion as to take advantage of the current system, and to tweak the current system so that the effects are more profound. Maybe this would enable players to learn and take advantage of it sooner, and thus making their experience more enjoyable.

The problem is the people who currently enjoy the game is not enough to make this game a success. So radical changes need to be done in order to attract more players.

Whatever the people currently in love with the game cry and wrist. Is what it needs to be done.

And to who said this " The bad AA implementation in FFXI encouraged bad gameplay by bad players."

AA didn't make ppl be bad players. It was all the PL, no one teaching ppl after a while, or ppl just not listening. PPl choose how involded to be in fights you have the option to sugeest them do more then just >.> (insert dirty joke) <.< or kick them for not being involed. I kicked a pld who watched tv instesd of focusing on the battle.
I agree, i played DNC as my main job. Their was never a dull moment. I loved soloing darkness on DNC

I completely agree that changes need to be made. It shouldn't take a person 5 months before they learn how to play. Especially if they are aiming to gain some of the "casual gamers." I'm hoping though that some of the good things about the system, such as it's depth are not forgotten but put into the spotlight.

Regardless of the fact I currently enjoy the game in it's current form, many do not. As such I'm glad SE is trying to address this.

How will auto-attack relate to 0 cost skills such as Heavy Strike, Full Thrust, Pierce etc? Right now these do have a place, be it not always in every fight. Occasionally it's nice to throw out a Heavy Thrust in order to temp bind a mob that is running all over the place. It seems to settle them down.
I think it would be cool if we are able to make our auto-attack a little more customized.

They could allow us to choose the order in which our "basic" attacks occur. You might set your character to do Light Slash > Light Stab > Light Slash > Heavy Stab.

But they'll probably just re-use the animations and have your character cycle through them automatically. As far as status effects go, those should be passed off onto manually activated skills. And who's to say there won't be any 0 cost skills? They'll just come with appropriate cool-down timers.

^This, and I've said it a million times. Square-Enix is not a non-profit corporation... We all need to keep that in mind.

But if everyone after understanding the gameplay are having fun there must a reason...
Isn't it better to improve it so that you can enjoy it early rather than doing it from scratch?

But there is one problem still...
No one uses the party search feature because its not effective as currently designed.

How has this not been brought up yet lol.
People will still be walking around soloing just because they cant find a party with that search feature as it is right now
    ;/
There was a petition for a fix(mostly with XI functions) and I believe the devs responded saying they will fix it.
