Tanaka has worked on amazing titles in the past. That said, I think it's hilarious that he says "The trigger for me thinking about leaving was getting removed from the FINAL FANTASY XIV project.” I mean I've never been of the mind that XIV's failure was completely his fault, but he's almost making it seem like he had no responsibility for the shit that was released. I'm sorry Tanaka, but as the captain of sorts of the project it's redundant of him to think that he wouldn't have been removed from the team after it's failure, just like he would have been praised if it would have been a success. That position in game design goes both ways. What makes it even worse is how he basically puts the blame of the failure in everyone but himself by saying "I tried my best not to meddle too much with development." ARE YOU KIDDING ME BRO? No one cares if this is true, it just makes him sound like a whining little prick whose trying to save some face.

Now that I've got that out of my system, I wish him the best of luck with his health and whatever he decides to do next professionally.

If the Yoshida interviews are any indication, Yoshi-P seems to be the polar opposite if everything has to run through him, as he has often claimed.
Tanaka was only producer which is basically budget/schedule management. Yoshida is both producer and director.

"FFXI was successful because I was awesome and had a huge hand in it. FFXIV failed because of everyone but me"
And to everyone who says he needed another job to eat and such? Honestly, with his history of titles and his former status at SE he probably has enough money to retire for two lifetimes. Never mind FFXIV, I'll never forgive him for what he put me through in FFXI, and that was his 'successful one'

Stop trying to cushion blows or have sympathy for a guy who wouldn't have any sympathy for you if the tables were turned.

Edit: Seriously, have you seen this guy in the interviews leading up to FFXIV? It was clear he did not give a crap about any of what he was doing. There was no enthusiasm whatsoever and it just felt like a huge middle finger to all the fans who made him successful. No, just no. Watch his interviews, look them up on youtube, and then come back here defending him. Please. If you have seen the ones I've seen, you'd have trouble doing so with a straight face.

I've worked inside an asian company, and though it doesn't really relate, I think tanaka had to deal with a LOT of politics behind the scenes. And sometimes that politics makes people depress or even hate their jobs. Honestly I felt a lot of tension between Wada and Yoshi in the last letter.

If that quote from him is legitimite then that's pretty selfish and disgusting. The company is better off without him.

Yes it was selfish of him to put trust in his team rather than spearheading it completely.

P.S Komoto was more incharge of XIV.

Wow i thought it was only me and a friend from ingame who thought that yoshi-p really did not want to be next to wada like he hoping he leave asap.

It seem like there was a lot of tension between them and seeing how yoshi-p been working to death. There even a part when wada look to the sky and thinks at the part me and my friend made fun of wada saying "Money,Money,YES,YES,money money" lol because it just look like all he was seeing was money ahah but that just a joke i came up with when seeing his face i sure it was something else lol

Regardless of who's most at fault, when your name is all over something, it's yours.

Yoshi may not escape the same fate if ARR sucks.

I didn't think Yoshi looked at Wada the entire Live Letter!

yeah that's why i felt there was a lot of tension. you can see it in his yoshi-p demeanor, especially with wada being kind bossy during the live letter (like asking about PS3, Taking something from yoshi desk and asking him what is this).

Well then again, Yoshi could be slightly neurotic and Wada was trolling. It might not necessarily be a terrible relationship.
