And the eyes, and the color, and -all- the feathers not just the tail - all together the newer model looks as I said, in my opinion plastic-y and rounded

Well minus Limsa bushes and that one Uldah grass screenshot the flora looks - a lot - better.
I havent nailed "its going to be a downgrade for sure" to 2.0 (a lot of things are obviously better, like 100X better terrain) but I do want to voice my concern - at least until they fix it (or SE personally says stfu its not going to happen lol).
A lot of the problems are pretty minor too, so you shouldnt give up all hope - we still have a lot of time. Just making sure they know we (I at least) notice there is some negative differences.
If they kept everything and add fancy shading, then we would still be in the same position with people with low end computers that can't work with FFXIV.
One of their major goals is to make it so all types of computers can run FFXIV. What your saying would do the exact opposite.
noooo...... we still wouldn't be, the coding in the first game is terrible, like really terrible, that's why the game lags as it does.If they kept everything and add fancy shading, then we would still be in the same position with people with low end computers that can't work with FFXIV.

Also who cares, I have a nice pc, I want amazing graphics, I don't care about the people with lower end pcs. They can just get a ps3
Doesn't work that way, sorry. If they optimize everything everything and add fancy shading and lighting ontop of an optimized base..you'd run on high settings with very little need for $72,000 PC build (exaggerated), your current PC will likely run it on high no problem.
The way PC gaming goes is a game should be playable on high - full without pushing your wallet to suicide but if you want to run on ultra type setting, then you need a damn good rig. That's called optimization.
Can't have your cake and eat it to. Want everything, you wide up with nothing. Learned that the hard way in FFXI with those /random casinos. Try to shove every little thing into a game could wide up breaking it ( if you don't know what you are doing). Also within a two year span of remaking the game, People just want More more More! ~ Brave little ToasterDoesn't work that way, sorry. World is consumed by greed. :O

Some pictures
ARR (2.0.)
current Version 1.0.
environment details
current version 1.0. (missing many vegetation like cactuars etc)
then (with many cactuars, grass, bushes and tracks etc. in it)
The current graphic also dont look the best in every situation, well at least it offers less environment details, less good shadows and feels static like hell.
i take the more detailed regions and you can have the boring copy&paste empty regions of now ^

2.0 with those pics.... again, add the shading to 1.0 and it would look 100xs better then what we have now and 500xs better than those 2.0 pics.
