It's clear to me it was a mistake to make a trailer with sub-par assets, just for the sake of having a trailer available.

I think the graphics and game will be just fine. It's not finished and much has to be done before the release. Yoshi-p and his team know their stuff and I have no doubt it will be amazing.

to be fare YouTube encoding is a piece of shit, i haven't the slightest why they decided to use it as a video host, when they have there very own XIV:ARR Server.

You do realize that the same could be said but in reverse. That just because the footage is older than the live producer letter doesn't mean it's newer footage compared to the older trailers.
