Same here, and it looks like the PS3 Version of the game. but either way I looked behind the "Lag" and Saw those beautiful landscapes, and that Huge Tree.. the Rocky Horizon... Simply amazing!

Different people just prioritize and care about different things. That is the way of the world.
Some people think the perfect car is one that gets great gas mileage because that's what's important to them; while other people will drive big gas guzzlers because they want power and speed.
Some people prefer fast, responsive gameplay first and foremost; while others appreciate subtle improvements in graphics quality and animation.
There is no right or wrong.
Part of the reason this forum exists is to allow players to give feedback on what is important to them. Obviously some people care about the graphics quality and are expressing their concern on what they see as a serious downgrade to the game they play.
Ultimately it is SE's decision to make, regardless of all the hate, name calling, and mean spirited comments that get posted here.
I prioritize graphics and immersion, so I am expressing my opinion here in the hopes that SE takes it as one small vote from a dedicated player who likes the level of detail that was built into 1.0.
If ARR turns out to be a big enough disappointment in the graphics department, I'll just have to decide whether or not this is still a world I want to be part of.
Some of us want a BMW i8 which is fast and gorgeous to look at, and gets better gas milage then any prius, is fun to drive, but will cost an arm and a leg to get ;pDifferent people just prioritize and care about different things. That is the way of the world.

I don't think it is cartoonish it's just the lighting. All the characters look dull and washed out like the lighting is blowing out detail in the faces so there is little shadow or detail. The current version can get like this as well in certain lighting conditions during the day.

I like the way it looks but that's just me. No issues here in my book.
It does not say anywhere that it is PS3 footage and it might be lowest resolution footage. Might be showing what it will look like if you are playing on a complete crap system, or it could be the PS3 and if that is the case he actually held up to what he said. Up close it does look kind of rough but several times in the video where it zoomed out abit while fighting and riding the Chocobos it looked amazing. Also it is the type of graphics engine that will grow on your the more you play it, unless you already have top of the line hardware then you don't have to worry about all that. It's going to look better than 1.0 at high res.

But why would they do that for a trailer?
Why would they? Easy answer is so players who don't have a so great system will know what to expect when they get the game, we kept hearing about low end PCs going to be able to play 2.0 and some would wonder what that would look like. Though Indie has a good point with that being the same trailer etc.

I'd still go with Gramul's why?Why would they? Because... if they are showing what low end systems can do - they are showing that not only does it not look as good but it also lags.
I just want to clarify because I know some may see it as an attack on SE. This isnt (for me) a hate on SE kind of thing, I want SE to do well - so I dont want them to be showing stuff thats not going to help them out. This would be something that didnt really help them. It also casues worry if thats representive of the game in general.
As someone has stated (Wynn I think) it would be wonderful if they could just show us the best screenshots they can do - the every system on full AA full post processing ambient occlusion, dof, max vision kind of thing.
Perhaps they arent ready for that - but since they are working on a game that is being played currently. Players are far more connected to the development process then usual. They need to keep a very close line of communication to us. Like weekly if not more kind of updates.
We are chomping at the bit - but dont make us weary - we want to share the awesome news and videos and subside concerns that appear in the forums through factual developer information. Cant do that if we dont know shit lol.
