Which begs the question: Why release footage of the game that is of an earlier build than what you currently have? It's an incredibly stupid move on SE's part to not use their latest build to do all of their trailer work; There's just no reason.

Hi Rukkirii,
Thanks for the update. We understand mistakes happen, but the Marketing person who uploaded this latest Video / released it should really be reprimanded. It's just shocking that through the entire Square Marketing Team in Japan (assistants, interns, etc.), NO ONE noticed how bad the frame rate was on this official TGS Trailer and thought to ask the higher ups about it?![]()
I think what's even more disappointing is considering Yoshida-san's own words from his Producer Letter:
I realize Yoshida-san is talking about both the trailer and the game itself, but his positive, "We want to make sure it's as good as possible!"-attitude is what made me (and many others) understand why he didn't release his Gamescom footage / trailer.Speaking of showing videos, some of you have been wondering why we haven’t officially released the footage of the demo we ran at gamescom. The answer to that is simple: it still looks like an ordinary MMO. Sure, our current players have been bowled over by the differences between the original version and A Realm Reborn. However, for those discerning MMO fans who haven’t played the original version, A Realm Reborn in its current state merely looks like your everyday MMO...just with better graphics...
The alpha test has yet to begin, and the beta is still a bit further down the track. This time around, we want to make sure we’re fully satisfied with the content before sending it out into the big, wide world.
Yet, here, at THE biggest Game Show in Japan - Tokyo Game Show - Square's Marketing Team releases a completely crappy video (great music! HORRIBLE frame rate)?!
Where's the Quality Assurance / Focus on making sure Square's putting their best foot forward in releasing something to the public?
It's not Yoshida-san's fault; it's the entire chain of Marketing personnel... how NO ONE noticed how bad their Video looked before they uploaded it / released it to the world?
I agree with Reinheart and many others:
Yoshida-san please REMOVE that video and re-upload it when you get the Frame Rate / Encoding Issues worked out.![]()
I just want to see Final Fantasy XIV 2.0 shown in the best light, especially to all the potential new players seeing it for the first time.
Gambatte!![]()
I doubt the trailers are made the day before events.![]()
My point is we don't know when they made this trailer, but yes, the newest trailer should look better than the older ones.
People haven't taken into consideration several possible variables. One variable it could have simply been a mistake and another just as possible answer is they wanted to show what the earliest or an earlier build of the game looked like because people are actually curious about those kind of things and in essence they could have been showing their progress.
Without any further verification than what Yoshi-P gave us earlier stating a rudimentary mistake. We have nothing else to go on.

if its true? we dont know it.. maybe they created several trailers before and then decided "ah there we have one trailer left, lets use this for the TGS"Naoki_Yoshida Post
Hello, Producer and Director Yoshida here.
The material used was more than what we are for the last letter of the producers - Live! have used - the exposure has not yet voted, and in some areas we were working (Delayed shade should be used), and the same applies to hair, neck and head movements and facial expressions.
In principle, the material pickup went according to plan but the reduced frame rate video was not planned, so we will investigate the problem. Today I was at TGS (or should I rather "yesterday" say?) And have the video that we have shown there, even checked and it seemed that everything to be in order. So it's quite possible that there were problems with encoding.
Please excuse this blunder but I will inform you once we have found the cause.
