I use Wow-clone to reference something being easy, the fact that things like "content finder" will exist in 2.0, means it will be easy because it will have to be, or a random group of people wouldnt win... ill give you the word "often".

Crafting used to take alot of time, it made very few do it, but those that did were rewarded, now its been nerfed 3-4 times and 2.0 is going to auto-crafting.

Exping used to take a month to hit lvl50 (same as 11 1-75), now it takes a day if you get PL'ed.

Earning GC seals used to take forever, people spammed caravan's for weeks to buy everything, now you can cap out your seals 2 1/2 times in a single day if you play for around 10hrs.

Making money used to take time, people used to farm/gather/craft, now every server has the atamos exploit and every single person in the game can make around 10mil+/day without doing anything else, theres no gathering/crafting/killing, just straight 10mil from npc trades.

All of these in my view, are (wow clones).

Edit: I guess i should atleast answer the OP if im posting here, it depends if they advertise, I see nothing right now, at all, unless I specifically go look for it myself. Also if your only counting active accounts at the end of the year, I would say no, theres alot of people like me planning on play ARR for the first month (not charging) to see if the game is to easy, if it is most will not be staying, why would I play another version of wow with less content (not saying im ever playing wow again).

If the game is 100% designed around casuals, they will only end up with casuals that are dumb enough to be here instead of wow.

Then SE begins charging and changing things around, making big announcements that investors really didnt feel friendly towards " yo big game selling stores, throw away all your old copies of ff14" we are making it all over again.. this is a make or break desicion, for reals.. so now thier stock is at a low of 1200 a share because of the fear of what this could do to them.. I know they work in 3 different fields and are not just final fantasy mmo only... But it is a HUGE HUGE part of them.. remember why final fantasy was created, hrmm?

So this would indicate to me that not many people will be willing to buy into this game again and get disapointed all over, hell I may be completely wrong and this blows up to be a huge hit.. but I really don't see it.. tbh I see maybe a peak of 125k, which really isnt that bad at all but it isnt a million people either
All that means is investors who have probably never played FFXIV don't trust it. When you buy a game do you think "hmm I wonder what the company's stock price is at..... Oh crap their stocks have dropped by xxx amount over the last 2 years, I'm not playing that crap"

FFXIV is not SE's only game, and yes it did cause their stock price to drop but stocks just show how much the company is worth based on media and investor's trust. Stock price does not indecate wether a game will succeed or fail, if ARR gets good reviews and more people subscribing, and buying the box the stock price would rise......... but of course that could always be down to some new "OMG this is awesomely epic" Sleeping Dogs DLC that caused it.

No one buys a game based on stock prices and if you do you are really stupid. Good sales and media stimulate stock prices, but good stock prices do not stimulate sales of a game, the sales must come before the stock.

I don't look at the stock prices to know if i'm buying a game lol.. thats absurd.. I'm just pointing out that it has lost alot over the last 2 years, and alot of people know it.. it will be hard to bring people back into what they already failed.. I was just trying to make my point on it not ever hitting 1 million subs.. not saying nobody would ever buy it lol

Oh and jsut so you know.. a little fact of sorts.. alot of the stockholders do play this game.. and sold out at 1.0 launch because of its failings causing it to drop... 1 guy alone cashed out almost 30 million in stocks after playing it and being overwhelmingly disapointed

I don't think FFXIV will ever get too big. I think it's going to remain a niche game like FFXI was. That and the original launch left a bad taste for people and they just simply won't give it another chance.

If you have read comments on fansites about trailers you will know the footage of ARR is making people consider trying it a lot of these are people who ditched 1.00 after the first month. What SE is doing isn't impossible it's just never been done before. Gamescom and 25th anniversary event have created a lot of buzz about this game, which is why people think SE can pull it off.

Well that is a good sign that they are atleast getting positive feedback at the moment from the gamescom, but alot of that is probably hype and they havnt really got to see what is in store. I hope they do succeed, but I never see them hitting the 1 mil mark.. ever. Many may be wanting to come back, but many also will not. 1 fine example is my neighbor, we both bought this pre order day 1. played for awhile, he played longer then me actually by a few months and gave up aswell. I told him they are rebuilding it and launching on ps3, he was all SWEEEEEEEEEEET I gotta get that, then I told him earlier they will be removing a digit from our isk and all his gear and items will be locked as untradeable. Take a guess at what his thought was of it then?

Would be great if you actually told your friend correct information instead of half-truths.

Not to diss your neighbour at all but that is very small minded just because they are knocking 1 digit off gil and dated items will be untradable he doesn't want to come back? OMG THE END OF THE WORLD the most game breaking things ever.

If it is really that big of a dealbreaker he should create a second character, send his gil to the second character, and start over just with a lot of gil... Or do what everyone else has done between inception of dated recipies and now, which is to buy new gear. If he was to re sub between now and close of play just to do that will his current gil it will only cost $9.99 (if he is in US) which isn't much at all.

And did you mention the value of everything will be dropped by one digit or just player's gil, if it was the latter it's your fault, not SE's, they are trying to make a stableish economy for new players at ARR.

Yeh, I explained to him the reason of why and how they were doing it. To some it is the end of the world in a ways, the end of the world they had created for themselves in the game. I did try and get him to come back and do what you said, but no go.. and if he is saying this, you know others will also. just sayin
