You don't have to be a jerk.
Would you guys like it if other rpgs have infinate arrows? Like skyrim for example. It takes away from the immersion, being able to fire infinite arrows. This game is based on realism with fantasy where fantasy needs to be.
Sure you substitute poison arrows with abilities. Though, it would be a lot cooler if you could switch arrows during mid fight on the fly. Thus leaving out the pointless abilities and adding different abilities to the mix.
It also leaves out a lot of other possibilities they could come up with. It's just pretty much tells me "yaaa, we think it's unfair that people have to buy arrows, we don't want you guys wasting gil! You guys already have millions, we don't want you to run out!"
Arrows were inexpensive and they were also not a pain to keep in stock either.
"OH MY INVENTORY IS BEING EATEN UP BY ARROWS!" You can have 999 arrows in a stack, so you are only going to take up a few inventory spaces when you go out to adventure. Also, with the new system invintory shouldn't be a problem, especially if they are able to give your chocobo inventory space where you can store some of you're equipment and finds.
No, it's not "hard core" to buy arrows or to sell, what have you. It's a way to make money, it also keeps the "realism" that's left in the game, in check as well.
Let's also ask, how would a shooter be with infinite ammo? Pretty cheating if I do say so myself.
It's also a great way to min-max. People who can max out their damage by buying more expencive arrows, GOOD. Don't make everyone equal because, nobody is equal.

FFXIV, any FF, besides early FFXI has never been about the hardcore. (there are usually hidden contents that are hardcore but thats like 2% of the entire game)You don't have to be a jerk.

And besides graphics no FF has ever really been about immersion.
I would welcome a FF skyrim like game, but this and all their past games are not comparable to skyrim.

You're kidding right, about FF being not immersive? HA, why do people like their stories so much? IT'S BECAUSE IT IMMERSES THEM! The graphics help with that.FFXIV, any FF, besides early FFXI has never been about the hardcore. (there are usually hidden contents that are hardcore but thats like 2% of the entire game)

I go to a movie, because I want to leave this world and go to that world for a short time, I read a book to go into that world, I play a game to go into that world.
The game, movie, book, is 100xs more enjoyable when you are immersed inside of it.
If arrows becomes infinite(they must be some magical arrows!!) XD This is final fantasy and SE might take this to a whole new direction. I just think the immersion will be gone from the game if arc is spoiled by less inventory management with more arrow selection to compensate for it.
But come on, 999/999 arrows might last you a few low levels until you seek higher level arrows. The point is, leave low level arrows as consumables to give carpenters business. I know High dmg/ high level arrows cost alot and makes for a steep gil-sink!
Some arrows should be magically 1/1( infinent) and low level arrows consumable(999/999). This won't ruin the economy>
~'\[[_LEGACY_]]/'~TENTs because solo-friendly content forces me to want one!

Tons of RPGs use infinite arrows and they do just fine. A lot of MMOs especially use infinite arrows. There's no point in them as a consumable, they have no special properties and there's no different types. We don't need them. Where "fantasy" needs to be is entirely subjective and FF has never really been heavily about realism.
A great many other games have done ammo buffs with great success. It's a good system, it works. It's also less messy than trying to switch ammo types during a real-time battle that's moving quickly. The only game I've seen pull this off is Monster Hunter but only because it has specialized controls for Gunners and even then it can get you killed.
Well not only was it unfair to ranged players, it's an entirely useless mechanic. The only difference between arrows is the level. It's an needless mechanic that they're switching with one that works well.It also leaves out a lot of other possibilities they could come up with. It's just pretty much tells me "yaaa, we think it's unfair that people have to buy arrows, we don't want you guys wasting gil! You guys already have millions, we don't want you to run out!"

Oh you mean the inventory that's 100 spaces smaller than what we have now? Yeah, totally okay. /sarcasm"OH MY INVENTORY IS BEING EATEN UP BY ARROWS!" This isn't a shooter. Also shooters use ammo as a meaningful mechanic in the game. Arrows in FFXIV are not a meaningful mechanic.
Now people can min-max with weapons, gear, accessories, materia and character stats. I think we'll be fine.
