While the amount of money going into the game is concerning, I don't think it reaches the level from the game's launch and ridiculous amount of money earned in a few minutes. When our market is less dreary, I usually earn about 1.5 million gil per week on crafted items from my retainer sales, and it can reach up to several million [and I'm not terribly aggressive with it]. Materia sellers and gatherers make a lot too. I think we're seeing people acquiring and then spending gil rapidly as a source of this inflation and not as a result of overall gil coming into the system. This gil is just going to gather more and more into the crafters who are amassing money, so whether it makes an impact or not is questionable.
I have to kind of agree with you and other people in this topic about the people that are just amassing gil. The people that the gil is going to in the long run are the ones that basically just collect it. For every 60 people that are making a mil a day for this event theres one person that has like 500 mil thats just sitting there. On an unrelated note, the thing i think is odd about this event, and the REAL reason that all this money is coming into the system is the fact that you can check the stones multiple times, which is kind of baffling to me. They should have made it so you can only check the stone once per kill, kept the clusters in and removed the gravity effect so theres a chance of getting anima, getting 5-7 crystals, a cluster, or flee when you check on the stone meaning youd get one chance at a decent award for every atomos kill.
